Which is Best?:RNY or the band
I'm not sure which route to take or if it's evevn up to me to make the decision. Do Drs. Wynn & Irgau do both? If it makes any difference,I'm 5'8, 275 pounds with the following comorbs - IBS, GERD,pain in the knees & back, hypertension and and family history of diabetes.
Also does it matter if I'm a smoker? I know, I know - I should quit and I'm trying. But if it's going to hinder or delay my surgery I'll stop right now - cold turkey.
I know this is a lot for one post but I'm so excited about finally going through with this I want everything to be right the first time I go.

Oh Gorgeous One....
It's not a matter of what is best. Sometimes it's a matter of what your insurance company will approve (many will not do lap band yet), your age (CHRIAS - as far as I understand) will not do RNY's on anyone over 55. The surgery also does not help IBS (so Dr Wynn said), although, I have not had one bout of it since my surgery! As far as smoking? You have to be smoke-free for at least a month prior to surgery from what I can recall.
Hope this helps!
