Yuck! I thought we only had to take Actigall for 6 weeks. Dr. Irgau was kind enough to correct me yesterday. I have to take it for 6 MONTHS! Yuck!!!! This stuff is the worst! Has anyone found a way to take Actigall without having to bear it's unholy taste! I'm open to suggestions. I've tried it in applesauce and sometimes it just comes right back up. Help! Thanks, Cassandra

I used baby food peaches. Gerber's worked the best. I understand how you feel. I used to cry when I would take actigall. I counted down the days til my 6 months was up. Good Luck, Deb

I have a sure fire way to avoid the horrid taste, BUT it is so not worth it. I had a HORRIBLE reaction to this drug and they did not have an alternative to offer me, so I had to go without. Kinda scary not to have that back-up. I was blessed to not have had any trouble though. BTW - my pharmacist told me that the best mask for any "bad" flavor is chocolate. I wish I had known about the baby peaches when I was crushing my meds. Best wishes finding something that works for you.

Hi Cassandra, I mixed everything nasty is Spicy V-8. Was good stuff and had enough oomph to hide yucky flavors. Linda

Hi, I don't know if this has changed, but after the first month we could take the pill.. didn't have to open it. Check into that maybe ;) T

No luck with Tina's suggestion. I called the CHRIAS office and we MUST open the pills. We are NOT allowed to swallow them whole since it takes the outer casing longer to dissolve than it does to pass through the pouch. We're stuck with opening the pills. Cassandra

Hi Bonnie, Actigall is a medicine you take so you do not develop gallstones. Losing rapid weight sometimes causes gallstones, so to avoid this you must take actigall. Hope this helps. Christie 3 weeks post op

Hi Bonnie - If you have a gallbladder, they have you take this med for 6 months. When you loose weight fast, it can have an adverse affect on the GB and then you would have to have it removed...this med helps keep that from (possibly) happening. Did that make ANY sense? I think I'm getting tired! Valerie
