Hey Linda, I was experimenting with a Hot milk cake tonite. I substituted skim milk, splenda and almond flour. It was awful. Not sure which one made it so awful either.
I put a little ice cream on it and Charlie loved it. I'm thowing out the rest.
I'll run the recipe by you when I see you.

Hi Elissa,
Was it a taste problem with the cake, or a texture problem? I haven't used almond flour yet, I have been meaning to. Did the cake call for any type of baking powder? They say because almond flour is heavier, you will need slightly more of whatever you're using to raise it. I found a recipe for an almond flour pound cake. OMG it had something like 30 grams of fat per serving, thinking I'd better skip that one.
Where do you get your flour, or do you buzz up your own using whole almonds? Now I want to bake something LOL. Oh I know what I wanted to ask you, is there a detour on the way over to Trader Joes? I heard something about it on the radio, a bridge closed or something? I want to go to Panera for lunch.

Rockland Rd at Adam's Dam Rd is closed. Doesn't affect the straight route 100, then Thompson's Bridge Rd that we take to TJ's from PMRI. We should be okay. Anyone else going to Panera's? We'll get seats for any taker's.
The hot milk cake. Taste was okay. Texture was bad. Didn't rise much and fell apart. Was kinda moist though. It did have baking powder. I bought the almond flour ready made at Gary's. A big health food store in King of Prussia. Got 3 kinds of Splenda jelly's there also. MMMMM.
