Christiana Hosp is like a war zone right now - I was admitted there

on Monday morning and kicked out on Tuesday evening. I am so furious about the whole situation. I was/am having a serious problem, but my regular doctor decided I could be treated at home-really, I can have a nasogastric tube at home - what a jackazz. Anyhow, I also work there, but am out til Sunday night due to my health issues. My nurse manager told me that the whole place is just insanely full and there were 40 + people waiting for beds in the emergency room. I know that is right becuase I was examined in the hallway and admitted from there (in the ER). Ridiculous. I was also admitted to the bariatric unit as a regular medical patient. Most of that unit is full of non-bariatric patients right now because ALL beds in the hospital had to be used for patients. More than likely, any and all elective surgery has been cancelled. I would be holding my breath about next week to tell you the truth. They are really going through some hard times right now with not enough inpatient beds. Anyhow, I hope everyone gets their surgery as scheduled, but beware as this is an ongoing problem, although it is worse right now than normal. As for me, I have no idea if all of the problems I have are going to effect my getting the lap band or not. You don't think anyone can give me an answer do ya ? I am just disheartened with the whole situation. I am still having my problem along with a new one - where one of the IV's was it is all hard, red and swollen and painful - GREAT! I guess it does not matter if you have a problem, if the doctor says you are leaving then what are you to do but leave and hope your problem does not get any worse. RIght now I would like to tell my doctor to stick all those enemas that I had to get up his own azz and thanks for nothing Sorry, I am so frustrated right now! pinkdots

I hear you and I understand. I was scheduled for surgery this morning and it's just a darn good thing I like chicken broth, jell-o and water. I'm sorry you're stuck in this sucky situation...but, at least you're not alone. Peace, and speedy healing- Susane

Hi Dots, I am so sorry you are having a rough time right now, it must be very frustrating indeed. I don't know about how the outcome will affect your lapband but wanted you to know I'm sending good thoughts your way that you are good as new soon. Hang in there! Linda

Is this the results of Christiana Hospital making the 3rd floor a "Center of Excellence" for gastric bypass? Sounds like things aren't working the way they expected. Sorry you had such a bad experience! Hope that you are feeling much better and recovering smoothly - at home. Take care, Cassandra
