Is it normal to be cold all the time post-op?
OK.
I knew that losing weight would cause me to sweat less but I am freezing! Even on a relatively warm day like today, I'm wearing a turtleneck sweater. Since my surgery, I keep the heat cranked up and I usually have on a sweatjacket in the house because I'm always cold.
At first I worried that I might be anemic but I've had my B12 shot and I take my sublingual B12 every other day. Now I'm beginning to think that I'm just cold. It's like my internal thermostat has shut off.
Does the passage of time cause the body temperature to regulate or will I be wearing a snow parka in June?
I can use some wisdom from those who have been there - done that.
Thanks,
Cassandra
Cassandra,
Yes. Hoodies in the summer were a mainstay of mine. I am on a totally different cycle than the rest of the family. Where I use to sweat in December and could easily forget to wear a coat in the winter months. Now I would never go anywhere without a sweater. By the way, just wait till you go to your first movie, and you end up squirming in your seat after the first hour because you don't have any padding down below anymore. Extremely uncomfortable. Stay warm...
Your bud, Rob
OH my..Rob got that one right! Wait till you go to that first movie..Its amazing how your "bum" starts hurting! You would think you have been riding in a car for many hours!
I'm always cold as well! I do have anemia..and trying to work on that. Its quite a struggle..my husband is always hot, i'm cold..and its not a fun thing sometimes..but I am never without socks and a warm shirt or jacket.
have a great week!
Kimberly
I am glad this came up and questioned if this was happening with others. I know that I invested in "Cuddlesilks" which are comparable to thermal underwear. They are just a dressier and silkier version of the good old thermals..... but they are wonderful. I got mine at Sears.
I am excited to see what the summer will bring. Before I never ventured out of my house because of my intolerance of the heat. I think you are more restricted by not being able to tolerate heat vs cold so (you can always put on a sweater).
Cassandra,
Welcome to the Fleeece Blanket club! I am so cold these days it amazes some of my co-workers! I was the one before surgery that had the AC cranked all year round! Now I am in sweaters on top of sweaters....Its weird. This summer was nice so I am hoping to be that warm again! Yes Winter use to be my favorite months of the year...
