Afternoon all, As most of you know, I have a real interest in the potential health benefits of food. I was in Redners today, a fairly new store in Oxford and found a new tea by Celestial Seasonings. Morroccan Pomegranate Red Roobios Tea. I love experimenting with new teas, and this one is really good. I was looking up rooibos and found the following info from a South African newspaper. I have a friend who lives there and will have to ask about this. Rooibos is becoming popular for its health and beauty benefits across the globe. It now stands alongside green tea on its pedestal as a superb source of polyphenols a class of phytochemicals (plant-based) linked to a variety of health benefits that include preventing heart disease and cancer. Green tea has long been touted as having the herb tea with the most polyphenols of all herbal teas. Rooibos is comparable to it. It is caffeine- free, and contains magnesium that helps to balance the nervous system and ensure a good night's sleep. It is called "mother's little miracle" for its capacity to pacify infants with colic, stomach cramps and sleep disturbances. Rooibos also increases the body's ability to absorb iron from the food, and relieves stomach ulcers, nausea, constipation, and heartburn. It's calcium and fluoride content promotes the development of strong bones and teeth. It also improves skin condition, thanks to its alpha hydroxy acid (fruit acid), zinc and anti-oxidant properties that fight free radicals - toxic by-products of the body's metabolic processes that cause premature ageing. Japanese research shows it contains a mimic of another anti-ageing substance, Super Oxide Dismutase, that limits free-radical effects. ~ Seems rooibos ( prounounced ROY BOSS ) could have alot of benefits for WLS people. It's got a nice taste too which doesn't hurt lol. Try it, you might like it! http://www.celestialseasonings.com/products/african_index.php Hope your day is a good one, Linda

Bookmarked and on my list. In my life right I have gone through wine tasting classes and love wine. Love to try different ones. Love to experience the different flavors and smells and the nature in them. Knowing I am headed into this life change and can't have wine I have wondered how to replace the experience. After reading this I think tea may be an excellent thing to replace it with. I will start doing homework on it now Thanks for the wonderful idea! Gigee

Thanks for the tip! I love all kinds of teas. I found a wonderful shop that makes their own herbal teas in AZ but they do have a website. If you are interested in it bounce me an email. An ounce of the herbal teas run around $2.50 an ounce give or take which ones you order. I bought a variety because I am a tea junky.....My neighbors laugh because I am the only neighbor that has one whole cabinet that is nothing but teas. When I ask them what kind they are truly amazed of what I have! Watch out Gigee your wine cellar may turn into a tea cellar! I also found a great tea by MightyTea. The only place I found that sells it in this area is in Media, PA. I know a road trip for tea I must be insane! Mighty Tea does have a website and list all the teas they have....the bag that the tea is in is SOOOOOO Cute! Not the normal Lipton/Tetley bag! It looks like netting that is sewn together. I can get 6-7 cups of tea from one bag. Yes at their price I recycle what I can to get my money's worth. I don't mind paying for good quality teas. Their fruit citrus green tea is the best! Debbie

Hi all, Just wanted to let you know that Trader Joes also has a variety of roobios tea. I haven't personally checked it out (looked at the label, etc) but if it is OK, it's another source for us to buy some!!! I saw it in their most recent flyer. I think it was an Orange Spice flavor. I'll let you know more when I check it out! KIT
