Day 3, No Smoking
Val,
You have been a blessing in your encouragement. Here and in email. Today has been good. The patch is good. Now to get through tonight, I find that a bit harder than while at work. But again, the patch has helped so much that I "think" I'll be ok. I'm going to take the cravings out on the rowing machine
Keep going, you are on the right track. May be the hardest thing that you have ever done (was for me) but I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Get yourself one of those little rubber balls you see at the drug store checkout counter, in fact get two. It will give you something to squeeze when you really want that smoke. It will also substutue for that lack of something to do with your hands.
Ive got fingers, toes, arms and legs crossed for you! A real pretzel (LOL).
Dwight
My buddy Dwight! You are a saint! Thank you so much for being here for me. I've never had a pretzel encourage me before. That's with no salt right? Don't want any fluid retention!!
This is really tough. It sounds so easy. Ok Gee, just put them down, that's a good girl. Do not pass go! Do not turn into the store! Do not do it! ugh
I'm behaving tonight.. really I am
Thank you so much!!
Gigee
Okay I am hoping you are officially on day 5.....Geez I can't believe I haven't been to the boards in a day or so!
I heard it may be a rough week or two so comeon down to the Y....I need some help lifting. That will keep you hands busy for an hour or so!
Glad the patches help. I had to quite cold turkey. Lucky for me I was sick as a dog and giving them up was not that bad. Although I drifted away from friends doing the bar scene....I could not stand drinking without smoking. It was weird for me. I gave them up when I was 27 so I guess it was a good time.
Keep smiling and know you can do it! You will feel better for it too!
Debbie
Gigee,
I have every faith that you are going to kick this in the butt this time!!! Keep up the good work Chickie-Dee!!! BTW - I LOVE the "Y" ... on my way there in just a few!!! Really helps to relieve the stress of life!!! BTW - we just put up a 60 pound punching bag up in the garage. Might be something you may wanna consider also ... All ya gotta do is tape a pic of a cigarette to it and punch away all your cares!!! Gotta say, I LOVE my bag!!! Looking to invest in a speed bag next!!! WHAT did I just say??? Who is this person>?>>??
Hugs,
Tammy
Aka - boxing mama - building muscle and relieving stress!!!
Aren't you the one the salemans tried to stear to a different protien because the one you chose was for weight-loss clients and not workout clients? Iffen so... he must have been right on track!
I got a rowing machine recently and have been allowing it to kick my butt on a regular basis. I"m thinking that soon I'll be kicking it back and having to add some more resistance
Day 5 here and I'm doing pretty darn good. Who'd thunk it. I am hesitant so will not scream success on being smoke free until the day before my surgery *grin*
I think that's 43 days (give or take a day) from now!
Whew!
Gigee
Yeppers, that was me ... well at least it was my body ... not sure *****ally took over the exercise button in my head!!!
Anyway, be careful with the rowing machine you may find as soon as you give it a good butt kicking that you really like that power!!! *grin* You too may be asking ... who was that woman who just posted that she loves rowing???
Keep up the good work on the smoke free quest. You can do it!!! Just think in 43 more days we will all have to scoot our smaller and getting ever firmer because of all this exercise butts over and make room for one more on that losers bench!!! Are ya ready???
Hugs,
Tammy
Well I am bouncing ya my tele... and email. Just let me know when you are ready. It will be nice to have someone other than DH to chat to while I sculpt muscle mass! What an art! Okay....its a work in progress....but it is in progress! I guess to get this old body in order it will take as long as it took to get the Blue Route open! LOL. Look for my email!
Debbie
Hi Gigee! Hope you're on Day 6 now, and that you have faith in yourself you can do it! Always remember - don't look back! YOU HAVE TO BE WHERE YOU ARE TODAY TO GET WHERE YOU ARE GOING TOMORROW!!
My mom quit smoking 10 years ago on Jan 9th, and she still struggles sometimes, so just remember to be good to yourself!
Hugs,
Bertie
