I have heard many of you mention flaxseed...what is the benefit of adding this to your diet. How does it come?... in a powder, pill, etc... Just wondering. I look forward to your posts! Missy

Hi Missy, I heard it's one heck of an aphrodisiac *cough* It is also full of fiber and oils and other good stuff. Get some of the lowdown here: http://www.freepgs.com/bariatricbytes/Flax.html I hope this helps some! Gigee

Hi Missy, Hmm, my hubby would beg to differ about that aphrodisiac part I eat flax faithfully everyday. I get mine up at Shady Maple farm market in PA ( gives me an excuse to go up there lol ) but I'm sure you can find it closer to home. I have been meaning to check Natures Way and the food co-op in Newark. I buy whole seeds and keep them in a ziplock bag in the freezer. I take out a little at a time ( probably 1/2 cup or so ) and run it through my grinder, then keep that in the fridge in an airtight container. I add it to oatmeal, salads, soup etc. I eat about a tablespoon of the ground seeds a day. This keeps me very regular. It also has numerous other health benefits which you will find in the link Gigee gave. Linda

Hi Linda, I like road trips. I just might have to do a Shady Maple run for flax. Right now I cheat....I bought the ground flax seed from Trader Joes. I keep it in the freezer in a baggie and take out a spoonful or two as needed....Love it on my oatmeal and cottage cheese. Also helps with the constipation along with my Russell Stover Chocolate LOL! Best two things to have in the house! They always move me. Thanks for the link Gigee and hmmmm an aphrodisiac? I haven't had that side effect! Debbie

I see others have already covered the many benefits of this wonderful product so I will just add that I LOVE my flax. I purchase whole flax seed and keep it in the freezer until needed. I take out what I need and put it in my bullet and pulse. I add it to just about everything. Let your imagination be your guide. Great stuff for all of us, especially us post-ops.
