Measuring protein??
Hi Christie,
What did you eat and how much? it makes a difference. You can usually use an ounce as a rule of thumb. Most proteins like chicken, beef etc can be figured at roughly 7 grams of protein per ounce. Cheese varies tho, you will get a higher protein count ( usually 7 - 8 grams per ounce using real cheese instead of processed cheese. The processed usually has about 4 grams.
If you are measuring in cups, break it down this way:
1/4 cup is the same as 4 ounces is the same as 4 tablespoons. If you're follwing the 2 ounce rule right now as I didat your stage...I found a small BBQ sauce bowl that held 2 ounces. Say I had pureed chicken salad, I counted that as aproximately 14 grams give or take allowing for added mayo etc. If your count is off slightly, don't sweat it, you will do just fine.
You will get the hang of it and soon it will be second nature and you'll just know, but following 7 grams per ounce is a good guideline and in addition to that you can see the nutrition info on the label of whatever you're eating.
