I have been lactose intolerant since I was born. I had to drink goat milk which I had no problems digesting growing up. Today, I still have problems w/ dairy products except sharp cheddar cheese (weird). I have tried Soy milk but, that gave me such an upset stomach and some well, I think ya'll know (lol). Any suggestions????

Are you looking for protein suggestions that do not contain lactose? If you are looking for protein shakes, I would avoid any that contain protein blends, concentrates casein and etc, as they will probably have too much lactose for you. It is my understanding that the Whey Protein Isolates are far better tolerated by those that deal with lactose intolerance. Some suggestions for isolates are Unjury (from the docs office and online unjury.com), Allthewhey pure protein isolates allthewhey.com/order.htm#isolate. Here is a further list of some whey protein isolates that may be helpful to you ... affordablesupplements.com/protein.asp#wpi Another thought, my girlfriend because lactose intolerant after surgery and she is able to take a lac-aid before milk products and do just fine. Not sure hers is a serious intolerance though. As far as other protein suggestions ... there is always beans, meats, soy substitutes (meat type) etc. One more thought on the Soy Milk you tried ... was it the low sugar kind? The regular soy has too much sugar in it for me, I have to stick with the lower sugar (light) variety. I would really suggest that you speak/email your nutritionist. I am sure he/she will have far better suggestions for you. Wishing you the best!

I don't know if this helps but I had problems with drinking milk after surgery. It lasted a few months. Now, at six months I am doing better. I still avoid "real" milk (skim), because sometimes it still bothers me. But for some reason, Carb Countdown, Fat Free is OK. Also I tolerate milk better if it is an ingredient, like in oatmeal, pudding, etc. Good luck! Kit
