So...whatcha gonna do during the storm?
I think I will clean the house and then get really lazy with a good book or a movie. Later when I'm ready to scream from being cooped up I will get some cardio in on the bike. Might do some baking too!
I will definitely clean first tho. We have a tendancy to lose power here during extreme weather, and as soon as it goes out, I get this weird compulsion to vacuum.

Hiya, Kimberly! (hi, Linda!) We're expecting 12 inches plus of snowfall with possible blizzard conditions. Don't know exactly for Linda's area. (Linda, are you in or south of Middletown?) At any rate, I think most folks are prepared to hunker down. Kimberly, are you glad you're in Texas? Linda, you're baking? Man, I just started solids a couple of days ago and I'm feeling paranoid about what to put in my mouth. Saty safe and warm!

Hi Sandi,
Not too terribly far from you in Elkton, so my forecast is the same as yours. Don't you just love the ever changing , classic mid-atlantic wait and see if it stalls, speeds up or goes south storms?
I haven't started baking yet but I'm seriously thinking about it. I have been doing breads and not sure how much yeast I have left. I don't eat more than a bite to taste them but hubby and the kids are more than willing to help out in that area and be my guinea...er..a...taste testers
I love the process of baking and it doesn't bother me to smell it or make it and not eat it, or not eat much of it, whichever the case may be. I know for some that would be impossible, and in that case I would say definitely skip it. I dont know, it's weird actually. I'm more involved in the process of it all and how someone tells me the final product is, than eating it myself. Kind of removed from that part of it if that makes any sense. Sorry if that was a bit convoluted, cold temperatures do that to me now
AS for the starting solids, my advice would be to give yourself plenty of variety, keep it simple, and always err on the side of caution when something doesn't seem to make sense. Have fun with this stage!

Good ol Elkton... yep, you're in for the same. The weather in Delaware IS strange. Wilmington can get 6 inches and then you drive 11 miles south to Newark and find a dusting. It's like our tornadic weather... those buggers usually threaten us from down your way or over near Rising Sun, but you seldom hear of real tornado development in New Castle Co. (with the exception of our last bout) that's fine with me ... I lived in the Houston area for 2 yrs. Gadzooks...
now there's some wild and wooly weather!!
Anyway, I found what you said about baking interesting. I've been able to cook for my family since the surgery ... just not inclined. i'd like to get back to a little traditio we were trying to establish ... every couple of weeks, we'd take turns (my husband, my son, one of his friends and me) preparing a gourmet meal. Say, it was my huz's turn. He gleaned thru recipes until he found something then everyone had to agree that was appealing (no peaches-with-anchovy-paste type stuff) then he would have to shop for the ingredients (I often assisted in this phase) and he prepared the entire meal (entree, side, beverage, and dessert) Now, the rest of us did help with support tasks such as dicing carrots, etc. This was so much fun, Linda!! Everyone was into it. It was an opportunity for creativity, adventure and togetherness. (awwwww) I miss it! (I miss the fact that it was one less meal for me to make!
LOL! Actually, I do miss it and am looking forward to doing it again. Now that I have an altered diet, it's time to discover new ways to eat healthily and enjoyably. Yippee! I'm gonna discuss the renaissance of our gourmet gatherings with my husband today!! oooh .. ummmm, sorry, I got caught up in the moment!

Hi Sandi,
I love the dinner idea, that sounds like so much fun! A few times a month my sis in law and her kids come over and we do a game night or watch movies, this would be a perfect twist to add to that. Sometimes we order out, sometimes I cook, but doing one this way every so often could get really interesting!
Last time we got together we went out for dinner to Lonestar and then went cosmic bowling in Newark. OMG it was so much fun! We laughed and carried on and embarrassed the kids ( always a plus
) I think we're going to go again soon, if you haven't done that you should give it a try. Colored lights, strobe lights and loud rock music. This ain'tcha granma's bowling anymore lol. Ok, off to my cuppa tea.

As I stated earlier, when I got to the jeep to head to PMRI this morning the battery was a gonner. Had a friend txt my phone and make a comment that pretty much told me he was out and about. The snow was just beginning. So after telling him about the battery he came and picked me up to go get a new one. While we were out we figured we'd go to the grocery store. And WaWa and the drug store and back to the auto place.
Just getting back in. The clouds are really low and it's really snowing AND what a mess out there! People without proper tires and proper common sense are out there too. So if you have to venture out, be very very careful. Lot's of cars skidding along.
As for the rest of this stormy day? I'm going to stay home and keep my toes warm. Maybe watch a movie, read a book, take a nap. But most assuredly... do some laundry

Hey Ya'll!
Missed you at the meeting this morning! Then I went shopping! Actually went shopping before & after the meeting (sick individual that I am!).
I've been taking it easy since arriving home..but, I'm soon to venture out and try out the new snow blower!
YIKES!!!!!!!
I do our walks & drive and I actually do several of my neighbors. One of my neighbors usually comes over to help out, but 2 years ago, we took care of 6 houses! My neighbors love me!
Hey, what can I say? You do for others when you can!
So, in between, after getting warm...I'll be reading & watching TV..oh, and on the computer!
Have fun & be safe, everyone!
Valerie
Ok Valerie,
Right this minute I am sitting here thawing out from my first round of shoveling I just want to say that I have a real problem, a total case of snowblower envy!
But I might add that there is a plus side to this weather....

You can go here and calculate your Winter precipitation removal energy expenditure...that's Linda speak for how much you burned shovelin' your @ass off in the driveway
I have a hot cuppa with my name on it and my book waiting. Be safe!
