I HAD MY EGD YESTERDAY
Hi guys! Well I had my EGD yesterday and I was pretty scared. It was just the idea of the doctor sticking something down my throat to view my stomach, etc. Also, I was scared of the anesthia. As it turned out though, the doctor just gave me a thick liquid to drink that numbed my mouth and throat. The procedure took only about 10 minutes and I can't remember any of it. He showed me photos of the inside of my throat, stomach and small intestines, which were all normal. Thank God.
I saw the cardiologist about two weeks ago and had a stress test and an EKG. All went well. The doctor did find that the lower part of my heart is not functioning properly. So he is doing a cardio cast on January 31st to see if I have a blockage or what. A cardio cast is when they put this blue radioactive ink into a vein in your leg which then travels to the heart so the doctor can see how your heart is functioning. If there is a blockage, he will use some medication to disolve it right then and there. If I need surgery, which I certainly hope I don't, he said he will wake me up and discuss it with me before proceeding.
I hope all goes well cause I really want this surgery now that I have decided to go for it.
Hi!!!! Rita!!!!!
I have my EGD scheduled for Feb. 9th. I has happy to see that yours went so well. I have been scared too. One question, did you see or feel them put that damn camera down your throat? That is what scares me the most. I do not want to gag or anything? And, are you completely put out or are you still awake? Thanks for your time.
