Upcoming Surgery Monday
Hi everyone, my sister in law, Debbie will be having surgery Monday, January 17. I know she reads the message boards religiously but never posted.
She is extremely, extrememly....... nervous and is questioning whether she should postpone the surgery. She has attended the life skills class and has also researched this surgery extensively for over a year now. She needs all of the support she can get and I know of no better place to turn to than here. Everyone has helped me tremendously in the present as well as in the past so I know she is in good hands.
Debbie
Wishing you an uneventful surgery and a speedy recovery.
It is normal to have these feelings right now - we all did. When I had my 2 minutes of doubt, I re-read profiles. And I haven't read a profile without seeing the statement "If I had to go back.... I'd do it again in a minute". You've done your research, you have to let your own heart guide you. Good luck.

Debbie -
If you weren't having thoughts of doubt (it IS major surgery), I would call you crazy. You are a perfectly normal person. As your sister in law stated, you've done the research. If you know anything about this team of doctors, you know how wonderful they are and what a great success rate they have.
This time next week, you will be through the worst of it and on the way to becoming a wonderful, smaller, new-you. It is a life-changing event and decision. You've done the work and you trust what is in your heart.
Best wishes, remember to walk, walk, walk, sip, breathe and walk somemore.
God Bless!
Valerie
Hi Karen and Debbie,
Debbie, being scared is very normal, just try to keep a positive attitude and please know you are in very good hands. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Take care, and see you on the loosing side. Dana
Karen, keep us up-dated, and we can send our well wishes to her when she is in the hospital. Take care too Dana
Hi Debbie. 2 more days and awake up call. Your sister in law has been vigilant in her journey. Karen has had a rough time of it. I'm sure she questioned her decision alot at first. She is doing great now, thanks to her perserverance. It isn't easy. But it is sooooooo worth it. I know I have never regretted the decision and am coming up on my 1 year anniversary. Wow, time will fly for you too. Try to remain focused, positive and keep your mind on your ultimate goal to become healthy.
Make sure you keep a journal so you can track your foods and protein intake. Get a couple of photos so you can compare later too. You will be amazed at the changes. Try to walk, walk, and then walk some more. It'll help your recovery be speedy. Get in your fluids. Slow at first. I was a gulper, now I am sipping all day long. Have Karen let us know how you make out and keep us updated. Hope to meet you both soon. ((HUGS)) Elissa
