BODY IMAGE (AGAIN!)

Ok, it's a "personal best" for me. Three days in a row I've checked the OH message board!!! Yeah, me! I'm sorry that I am going back to the body image topic -- yet again -- but I really had a bad day and I desperately need to vent! As you may recall, a couple days ago, I was dissapointed when I saw the first set of pictures documenting my weight loss surgery. I didn't see all that much difference -- even though I have lost 80+ pounds. Today, I got even MORE discouraged. I saw my dentist and his staff who haven't seen me since September. They know I had the surgery and even asked how much I lost. So I told them and their response was "yes, we can see it in your face." Later on today, I ran into a former co-worker I hadn't seen in about 2 years. She also knew I had the surgery. When she saw me guess what she said! "I can see it in your face." Well I won't ramble on but the same thing happened again with another person I met today -- you know, the "face weight loss" thingy again.... So is it my imagination, or does the first 100 pounds you lose come off your face (only)? I know I said I didn't see much of a difference but I am buying CLOTHES (tops, bottoms, underwear) that are several sizes smaller. Not smaller HATS or EARMUFFS!!! But ironically I did lose one of my earrings today. (So it's skinny earlobes, that's it!) What gives??? Sorry, I don't mean to go on and on. I didn't expect people to fall over when they saw me or even make a big deal or whatever. But I guess I thought I would get more than "your face looks thinner." THREE TIMES IN ONE DAY! OK, I'm done!

Miss Kitty, If one more person told me they could see it in my face I was ready to come out fighting!! All of a sudden with my loss now at 93 lbs EVERYONE is finally noticing. Hang in there and be proud of yourself. That's a lot of weight you've lost already! Love, Kathleen

Let me tell you a funny story.... Someone in our office building that I see at least every other week saw me at the copy machine. He looked at me and stopped in his tracks and asked me if I was working out or something. This was after I lost 105 lbs.

Hey Kathleen, Thanks for the kind words and insight into my problem. I will look forward to that day -- it's only another 5 or so pounds away! I remember when we started our WLS journey and sat next to one another at the PMRI meeting. I think it was one of the first meetings for both of us and we were excited "to the max" to get going with surgery! Remember? Doesn't seem like that was so long ago -- and look how far we came. Can you believe it???? THANKS AGAIN!
