Last night's meeting
It was great. Dr Irgau was sensational. He deducted ten pounds off all those attending. Very light turnout, but there were a lot of questions. He worked off of Brett's chart. Main things he reiterated is crush those pills. No alcohol after surgery. It can ruin liver quickly and without any prompting. No sex for one month after surgery, and then it is totally up to you own stamina. PMRI doctor should be used because they offer a holistic approach to looking at your health from a gastric surgery perspective. It looks like I may have shamed both Dr. Irgau and Dr. Wynn into sponsoring this year's MS Bike to the Bay Team. Dr. Irgau said he was going to start training.
Hi Joe
It was a great meeting. Even though this was my third (First 3 Months) meeting, I learned a lot from Dr. Irgau. Did you know that our new stomach is now basically just a food holder and that the food leaves our pouch through the small intestine via a little area smaller than our pinkie finger nail. I hope I got that right. That is why we feel full sooner and stay fuller longer. Isn't that cool.
Ya missed a great meeting. Hope to see ya on the next one. I think it is about sugar substitues.

HI Joe,
I have to agree it was a great meeting. I could sit an listen to Dr. Irgau all night. I went to the meeting of this topic before surgery and last night's was after surgery and each time I have remembered something different. Wow the new stomach is just a holding tank and has very little acids if any to break the food down therefore, why we have to chew, chew, chew.
It was great seeing everyone again and meeting some new friends. We missed your smile. Hopefully, you can make the next meeting.

Darn missed the meeting. Did he say no alcohol ever again? Will damage happen with just a little alcohol...not that I want to really test the waters but I did have some over the holidays. I have heard soo many different opinions from various doctors... but I still think that our doctor is right. Even still better safe than sorry! But just curious if he went into detail with that. Wish I could've made it.

Right on the no alcohol Elizabeth. Go figure. We would now absorb the alcohol faster and it can damage the liver also because of this absorption. Wonder why we absorb it quicker and mal-absorb the proteins?? Oh well. I'm sure a thimblefull is okay. Any more than that isn't good for the new stomach dear. Sorry. Elissa
