Hair Loss
Happy New Year Everyone!
I am almost 3 months post op and now noticing hair loss. I know this was part of it but how long does it last. I know I was not getting enough protein by my calculations and have recently increased it. What suggestions does my OH family have for me. Right now I have added a the Whey Xtreme Protein powder (60 grms per shake) within the last few days. I have one first thing in the morning and one as my last snack. Of course everything else in between has anywhere between 8-22 grams. So right now I am around 160-170 grams aday. Will this help?
Please help.

Hi, yes it will get better. The docs had told me that the hair grows in cycles so the loss you are seeing now is due to low protein levels 2-3 months ago. Mine lasted about 7 weeks, then started to grow back. You are doing the right thing increasing your protein. A lot of ladies use the Nioxin shampoos and say it helps. Good luck.

Sorry to be so late in responding to this but I wanted to share what I know. I haven't been on the site for a long time and I am just catching up by looking at the older posts.
I had my surgery in August (the 2nd) and I noticed shortly before my 3-month checkups that my hair was thinning in places and falling out more. I talked to Dr. Iragu and the PMRI doc at my 3-month checkups and was told basically the same that everyone else is saying here...from 3 to 6 months it's most noticable. Both docs said not to worry too much unless it gets really bad or continues for longer than a few months. I am going to my 6-month checkups at the end of January / beginning of February so if it's still a problem I'll see what they say now.
Hope this helps.
