Travel question for Post-ops!
I'm currently awaiting my surgery date and am hoping for one in February or March. Here is my question: realisticly, what is the feasibility of travelling for a month (35 days) around Europe this upcoming June. With all intentions, that would make me three or four months post-op. I know it will be awkward and will require much additional forethought, but do you think it's possible?
Thanks! -Susane
If I should need a replacement, I'll be sure to tell you.
Thanks for the opinion and encouragement. I'm really hoping that I'll have a surgery date soon so I will be able to feel the benefits by the time June rolls around.
There IS a hitch to the trip...thirty teenagers are going also! Hope I can keep up with them!
Peace- Susane
hmmm... Not sure. Your best bet of course is to ask the doc. I think you should be alright by then and feel alot better...but trecking around all of Europe seems a little scary to me. If something were to happen you would be very far from your surgeon. If you do decide to do that make SURE you have your medical alert bracelet! just in case! Aside from the "what ifs" I think physically you would feel alot better and be ready for a little trek like already mentioned, make sure you take your protein with you and your multivitims and such...would be hard to find over there maybe? Best wishes to you!

Thanks, Elizabeth! I think it's going to be a grand adventure. I travel a lot, but the idea of it being so soon after surgery does make me a bit nervous. I'll be ordering my bracelet as soon as I have a surgery date. I'm guessing that my best bet is going to be a whole lot of protein snack bars...they'll pack easily. I'll get tired of the taste, I'm sure...but hey! Europe!
I hope you have a great holiday- Susane.
I'll do some research to see what kind of "Isopure" drinks might be available in the countries I'm headed to. Thanks for responding!
It'll be so exciting to be almost comfortable in a coach airplane seat...to actually be able to keep up on day walks...to not feel too gigantic to climb narrow staircases to the top of castle towers!
Peace! -Susane
Hey Susan,
It's Rachell from Life Skills class. With your energy there is no doubt that you will do just fine in Europe. All I ask is that you bring back LOTS of pictures and that we get together to go over all the sights that you have seen. See you in class on Wednesday. Look forward to the after last class celebration!!!

P.S. We are going to have one heck of a New Year thanks to this surgery giving us a new lease on life. With lots of work from us but it will be all worth it. So here is a toast to a happier(if thats possible), healthier, us!!!
