Hi everyone My daughter and I have been invited to my sister's house for Christmas dinner. She is cooking a low fat ham. (Didn't know that a low fat ham existed) Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions on how I can approach dinner. Should I just forgo the ham, should I bring some pureed meat with me and then just heat it up, or should I ask if I can puree a little bit of the ham. Any suggestions on what to puree the ham with? I am okay with purreed green beans and mashed potatoes. I was thinking of making my chocolate mousse that everyone likes for dessert. (Using carb control skim milk, low fat, no sugar instant chocolate pudding and lite cool whip) If I forgo the meat issue completely, I could add protein powder to the dessert. I know that if I tell them that I added protein powder to the dessert, no one will try it. I just don't want anyone to feel funny or awkward concerning my new style of eatting. Any advice. Thanks Rose

Hi Rose - Merry Christmas! As your ,first, let me tell you how proud I am of you and the wonderful progress and attitude you have on your new life!!! I cannot tell you how happy I am for you. I think your idea of the chocolate mousse sounds great. Personally, I would just mix in the protein powder into your serving - it's awfully expensive to mix it in the whole dessert in order to get enough for you! When I was early out, I remember (wow, April seems so long ago) my hubby and his friends wanted to go to Kentucky Fried Chicken to get something to eat - now there's a dilemma. I remembered reading on the board and I just got a small mashed potatoes w/gravy. It was delicious and I didn't realize how little I would really be able to eat. I would go for a little taters & gravy, green beans and then some protein packed chocolate mousse. If you don't want to make a big deal in front of people - not sure how many people will be there or if they know what is going on - just make up a small plate and put a little piece of ham on there. You could cut it up really small and chew the living daylights out of a couple of bites. You'll be full really quick and happy! Remember - the pureed time won't last forever. It's more important that you enjoy the Holidays with your family and eat the right things that your body needs. I know that you will do great! Take care! Patty (and yes - I am in the process of updating my picture - I cringe everytime I see myself on here, I cannot believe the difference in 8 months!)

Rose, take a little of the ham, mix with low fat mayo and chop in a chopper. Voila Ham salad spread. I do the same with a slice of corned beef, cole slaw and thousand Island dressing. Corned beef spread. Ymmmmm. The mashed potatoes with a little gravy should be okay too. Try to get in a couple spoonfulls of each. I do the SF chocolate or SF pistachio pudding, mix with low fat rigotta cheese, fat free carb countdown milk. Blend in blender. Tastes like moose. Loaded with protein. Try to be creative, it'll make the time go faster. ((HUGS)) Elissa
