I am one of the people formerly scheduled to see Dr. Miller. Now I am trying to find another Dr. I have an appointment with a Dr. in DC who is out of network for my ins. co, meaning lots of out of pocket expences. I would love to find a surgeon, with good experience!!! closer to home who accepts TriCare!!! Any help at all would be greatly appreciated! TRICARE PRIME!!

Hello... My name is Melissa, and I am the program assistant for New Course... For Life, the Bariatric Surgery program of Dr. Roy T. Smoot, Jr., MD. I am also a Gastric Bypass patient. Dr. Smoot has been doing Bariatric Surgery for many years. We are currently in the process of becoming "credentialed" with TRICARE, which is now called HEALTH NET. I can't imagine the frustration you are going through. If you have further questions about our program, please feel free to contact me at (443) 843-6360. I wish you the best of luck... Melissa

Blanche, If you need to check into another surgeon, Dr Irgau and Wynn are my surgeons and they are both excellent. Top of the line IMHO. I did a lot of research pre-op and they are who I finally decided that I trusted enough to place my life in their hands. I am not sure if they take your insurance, but a quick call to the office would help you find out. And a pre-op appointment could help you decide if they are what you are looking for in a surgeon (team). (www.) chrias.com/contact.htm I think that everyone else around here who has had them for their surgeons would agree with me, and speak nothing but high praises for their abilities as well. Truly a great "tag" team. They simply did not miss a beat when it came to my surgery. Took absolutely no chances. Investigated even the vaguest symptom. I saw the docs spending a great deal of time not only with patients at the hospital, but seemingly hours pouring over their records. I remember one time specifically, I had went out for a walk around the floor. Spoke with Dr Irgau who was pouring over patient records. Even though he had just seen me a short while before, he took the time to check with me once again to make sure all was well. I happened to mention something that I though was insignificant, and he immediately investigated, turned out to be nothing, but none the less, he was obviously not taking any chances. At any rate, after that, I continued with my walk then went into my room to visit with company and rest ... quite a while later went back out to walk, and Dr Irgua was still going over patient needs with some of the nurses. I have witnessed first hand their abilities in dealing with unpreventable severe long term possible complications with swiftness, great care and complete thoroughness and made sure that a situation that could have been fatal with a lessor experience doctor, ended up safe and sound. Not only did I trust them with my life, BUT I would easily entrust any of my loved ones to their care if the need ever arose. That is not an easy statement for me to make. Believe me, I do not have blind doctor worship here ... but I believe without a shadow of a doubt that they know their stuff when it comes to this surgery. I am so sorry to hear about your problem with your former surgeon. But know that I wish you the very best finding a new surgeon that meets your needs as well as accepts your insurance. Tammy
