I had my consult with Dr Miller on 11-24-04. Got my lab work done the same day. Found out today that Dr. Miller is no longer going to do the bariatric surgery. Thought I would die. I have to look somewhere else. I know a lot of members of this group have gotten surgery in the Wilmington area. Can anyone give me any information on these physicians and maybe a phone number to call to set up a consultation? I spoke with Tina Ritchie today at Changing Lives and she did not really get into the reason why this all happened suddenly? I am a little upset that I paid a co pay and completed lab work and now I cannot follow through. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Julie

Hi Julie, I just wanted to say I'm really sorry this happened to you. I know how much emotional work goes into making the decision to have WLS. Hang in there and you will find your way. I had mine done in Christiana and very pleased with the process. Linda

Julie, Things happen for a reason. Not sure why the hospital and Dr. Miller are no longer going to be doing WLS. Must be Insurance related, don't you think? I would hope that the Dr. sends letters to his patients and gives them an explaination. This would keep the rumor mill at rest. I know that Milton is downstate. Rest assured that if you come to Christiana, Dr.'s Irgau, Wynn and Peters will be able to take care of your needs. I had my surgery on 1/26/04 and have never looked back nor have I regretted it. Get ready for a barage of appointments and classes needed to get ready for WLS. Then of course the dreaded Insurance approval wait. It is sooooooo worth the wait. Lets you do some homework and research ahead of time. Being prepared is the best thing you can do for yourself. So take this time to reflect and start your journey knowing that we will help along the way, cause we've all been there. We are a good resource for support, advice and questions. Try to remain positive and focused on your goal. Becoming healthy. ((HUGS)) Elissa
