Well, I've finally come to a peaceful place about this surgery. I have all of you to thank for that. Your words of support, encouragement and honest sharing of experiences have been a true blessing in my life. There was a time two years ago (before I founf my way to Dr. Irgau) that I was going to let some "inexpensive" surgeon in New York do my surgery. I was that desparate. I am so glad that God redirected my energy and put me on the right path. The path to making a rational decision and working with a close, reputable doctor who advocates lots of education, testing and support. With my new surgery date of January 3, 2005, I find myself in need of an "angel" . I don't want to go through this all alone. Please let me know if you're interested. Hope everyone is meeting or exceeding their weight loss goals! Take care! Cassandra

Cassandra, Congratulations on your decision. Know that you are trusting a wonderful team of surgeons!!! Ins't is wonderful we don't have to travel the world over to get top notch docs? At any rate, congrats on your surgery date also. Get ready, cause if you are like me ... this time will fly by!!! Continue with the research and learning ... it will all serve you well in the years to come! About the support ... this board is the bomb ... you will have an entire board full of angels who will support you. If there is someone in particular you would like to share with, just email them, I have always found that they are always more than willing to extend that extra helping hand or support! So are you getting ready for your upcoming date? Do you have a protein picked out yet that you like? Do you need protein with banding??? If so, remember that for some of us (RNY;s anyway), our tastes change after surgery, at least for a while. I feel it is a good idea to have a variety of samples available. I didn't do this however, I had one can of some pretty nasty stuff from GNC. I choked it down for a few days until some samples arrived. Since then, I love my protein shakes ... consider them treats!!! Again, congratulations and wishing you the best! Hugs, Tammy

Cassandra, You mentioned that you didn't want to go through this all alone. you definately won't be going through this alone, we will all be there with you. You will be in our thoughts and prayers now and when your new birthday arrives, and even thereafter. As Tammy said, congrats on your decision!! You have a great team of docs!!!! Feel free to ask any questions you may have! Also, there is a support group meeting coming up on December 18th at PMRI, and unless things have changed, the topic will be "New Year, New You". This would be right up your alley! I plan on attending the meeting barring any unforseen cir****tances. Take care and best of luck with everything!! -joe-

Hi folks! Thanks for all of the prayers and words of encouragement! Just to clarify - I am having Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass Surgery (Lap-GBP). This is also known as the RNY. Didn't mean to give people the impression that I was doing the LAP-Band.
