Question
A friend of mine was scheduled for laproscopic surgery at Christiana yesterday. I'm not sure of the time. I called around 5 p.m. this evening to get his room number and to arrange a visit tomorrow. When I called the switchboard, they said he was in surgical critical care. They suggested I call back tomorrow. Dr. Ig...u is his physican (sorry. I don't know how to spell his name without looking it up.) This isn't the norm for Christiana, is it? I had my surgery in Seaford, and I don't think I was ever in surgical critical care. Any insights would be helpful.
Thanks

Diane -
I've heard (not had personal experience), that this does happen, especially if the patient was extremely overweight. My niece works in the Surgical ICU and has said they have had some of us there..it doesn't always mean there was a problem. Hopefully, this is the case with your friend.
Sending my prayers and best wishes.
Valerie
Debbie, Your friend is in Rm 2320 which is the surgical ICU. Not sure why he is there other than right now they are giving him constant care and keeping a close eye on him. I'll check back tomorrow for updates. Will keep him in our prayers. If you'd like to post his name we can all send emails directly to the hospital and they will be delivered to him. I'll post the link if you want to post his name. Let me know. Elissa
Diane, John is in Rm 5012A. I did post the link, but in case here it is again.
