Winter coats!!!
Hello everyone,
Our church has a ministry to the womens prison. Every year we send used coats for the ladies since many of them are incarcerated with only the clothes on their back. Any extras go to the womens shelters as well. They always need large sizes. I will be at the meeting on Saturday if anyone wants to donate their old coats. You can also contact Victory directly at 302 324-5400 and let them know that you have a coat for the womens prison or just drop it off at the front desk.
Thanks alot for your generosity in advance.
God Bless,
mama
Yes, Victory Christian Fellowship. Hope you're at the meeting on Saturday. I'll introduce myself. I understand that you are very active in your local church as well and have heard that you are able to help all of us disperse with those coats and other things that don't fit any more. Praise God. All my coats and clothes went to family and a few others who were lined up waiting for me to loose. I still have a few items left but not many.
ThanksTammy you are always an inspiration to those of us on the boards.
God Bless,
Mama
Morning Mama,
We have visited your church on a couple of occasions. Rarely have the opportunity to get out and visit other churches much though as my husband is the pastor of our church and is expected to be in our church during service (Imagine that?)
Your outreach is a wonderful ministry. It is such a blessing to see the Lord's people on the move in the community and reaching out to help fill the many, many needs of the people, both physical and spiritual.
I was taught a wonderful lesson many years back that I would like to share with you this morning. I was invited to visit a huge mega church in the round. This place was huge (think there were about 5000 in attendance) ... broadcast on TV, and I was not really sure what I thought it to be honest. When I got there, I found many people seeking to sit up front as close to the pulpit as they could. But the first few rows of seats were roped off for "Distinguished Guests" the sign said. Since it was my first time there, I had no idea who that could be. Being excited about visiting a new Church I had gotten there quite early and had the opportunity to sit back and tour the place and watch. Boy did I learn that day ...
As I toured the place, I found a soup kitchen feeding an entire room of homeless people. After talking with some, I found that a bus goes out every morning and busses these people to the shelter. They are welcome to stay in one of the shelters if they choose or they can simply eat. They have many other programs set up to help also. Their whole purpose is to help these folks in whatever manner they need/want. I then find out that those that are running the shelter/food kitchen/programs are those that were formally on the streets. This was such an awesome program ... but I had seen programs like this before ... where I did see a difference was back to those first few rows of seats in the Sanctuary ... they were reserved for those that were bussed in. The place of honor belonged to them. I felt this was awesome. They did not insist that these folks get dressed up (although they had clothing and showers available if desired) ... the entire church accepted them with open arms - Absolutely Beautiful!!! My heart simply jumped with joy when saw such an outpouring of pure love without prejudice. Such a beautiful biblical example. And at that very moment, I knew that while I wasn't called to minister in a big mega church, I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that this church had a heart for God, it's people and community surrounding it. And it has forever helped shape my ministry, my life and my heart for those that are struggling.
May God continue to bless you and keep you and make His face to shine upon you for all of your days!
In His Service,
Tammy
