Minutes from the WLS-NDE Group

Hi everyone, We had a great turnout last night. Here are the minutes from our meeting. Twenty-five people attended our meeting, twenty members have had surgery for an average weight loss of 86.98 pounds. Great job!! We had a guest speaker tonight. Leanne Williamson from Ladies Workout Express joined our meeting speaking about the benefits of exercise with our weight loss journey. LeAnne is the owner of 2 Ladies Workout Express' in the Wilmington area: 1 in Hockessin and 1 at 202 & Murphy Road. She is also the state representative for Ladies Workout Express and works as a consultant providing Leadership, Team Building, Sales and Customer Focus seminars,and other topics. We were very fortunate for her to join our meeting. She was kind enough to bring samples of protein powder for us to try. Thank you so much for the time you spent with us and for handouts on "Exercise and Weight Loss"; "Understanding Weight Control and Obesity"; and, "Legacy for Life - Understanding Weight Control & Obesity" and the 6 fantastic cookbooks you gave in a drawing to those in attendance. Leann provided guest passes to Ladies Workout Express which can be used for 1 week free membership to allow us to "Try Before You Buy". I have some of the passes, if you would like some let me know and I will mail them to you. Kim Bogia, thank you so much for bringing Leann to our attention. We had a few can good donations and 1 coat was donated to give to the Richardson Park Community Association. If you would like to donate canned goods and/or winter coats please bring to our December get-together and I will see that they are taken to RPCA. We discussed starting the Sunday morning walk at Christiana Mall. There was considerable interest to begin this again. We will meet at Christiana Mall in front of Strawbridges at the fountain at 9:00. Please join us. One lap around the mall is 1 mile, do as many laps as you like at the speed you like. Bring a family member or friend. All are welcome to join us. Jane asked about our member's e-mail addresses. If you want to contact a member "off-list" you can go to the WLS-NDE Yahoo site and find the e-mail addresses of our members there. If you need any help let me know. Don't forget you "Personal" challenge for the month. Mary Weldy provided a wonderful receipe for Crab Casserole. Thanks Mary. Here it is: 1 tsp. dry mustard 1 cup diced celery 1 cup diced green pepper (optional) 1 cup grated American Cheese (Mary uses different shedded cheeses, perhaps taco cheese, or one you would prefer) 1 scant tsp salt 2 tsp Worchestershire sauce Dash Tabasco 1 1/2 cups mayonnaise 1 pound crabmeat 4 well beaten eggs Combine the first 7 ingredients. Combine the mixture with the mayonnaise, crabmeat and eggs. Pour into a 2 quart rectangular baking dish. Bake at 350 for about 30 minutes. Note: The mixture made of the first 7 ingredient will do for 1 1/2 to 2 pounds of crabmeat. Add a little more Tabasco if using extra crabmeat. If using less crabmeat cut down on mayonnaise. Credit given for the receipe to Ed Wisniewski. ***December Holiday get-together (we will not be @ the church @ all in December). We will meet at the Air Transport Command on US13, just past the New Castle County Airport and across from the New Castle Farmers Market on Monday night, December 6 for a holiday get-together. Terri Walters is handling the arrangements for this. She has spoken with the manager who has graciously agreed to give us a room for our dinner; we can order from the appetizer menu or whatever you want. We can share. The manager asked that we get there at 6:30 (not 7:00) so please plan for a 1/2 hour earlier for December. The prices are reasonable and should not be expensive for each of us. The manager seems to be very willing to accommodate us. The dinner is open to all our members and guest(s). Please let Terry know if you plan to attend and if you are bring guest(s). We need to have a final count no later than November 24th. You can e-mail Terri directly or you can post to the group the number who will attend. May I ask that in order to make payment easier that you bring cash broken down into $10, $5, and $1 so we can easily split the bill. Please bring a holiday ornament to the dinner. Hi Shay, Thanks for posting this! Great job and lots of good info and I definitely plan on trying that recipe as I have some crab in the freezer I'm also happy to learn that Unjury will be available from the office because I get lazy about ordering it online. Sounds like you all have a fabulous support group going! Linda
