Side Note To Tammy's Post
Ok, am eating oatmeal..the 15 gram protein one from the docs office today, alot of days I eat the Quaker Low Sugar brand. I usually add ground flax to it, which I did today. But this time added some slightly salted sunflower seeds I had in the fridge. OOO can you say good? Gives you a nice sweet/salt thing, some good texture, and good extra nutrients. Thought you might like to try it.

OOOHHHHH LINDA!!!
I just had (reg) oatmeal with ground flax seed, sunflower seeds, and a bit of low carb granola (with raisins, dates, walnuts, almonds) and a bit of Diabetic Sweet Brown Sugar. It was out of this world!!! YUMMY!!! But I forgot to add my protein powder to it ... UGH!!! Figure it was only about 8gms of protein. Oh well, it was very good anyway! Will work on getting in the rest of my protein later!!! Thanks for the suggestion ... I usually add flax, but didn't think about the sunflower seeds ... and when I got started, there was nothing in my kitchen that was safe. BTW - I made it for hubby also, he is not quite as keen on it as I am. BUT he is eating it!!! Never has been a big fan of oatmeal.
Hey Linda!!!
Boy you are so right ... this is truly gourmet oatmeal. I can not imagine anything better. Funny how our tastes change to desire better foods, isn't it? I do okay as long as I stay away from my trigger foods, but the minute I hit those trigger foods, all the sudden ALL the old cravings come back, then it is a struggle again.
At any rate, you can get all over on the Internet and in the low carb shops, but boy is it expensive there. I happened to find it at Hunters Groceries in North East (right by police barracks) for a mere 2.29 a bag. I bought two bags, finished up one bag yesterday, so I can't give you the name of it (sorry I forget) but I opened my last bag yesterday and boy is it good also. It is called Flax-O-Meal Granola Wild Cherry Nutrageous. Low carb, no sugar added, handmade, oven baked 2 net carbs, 5 gms of protein per 1/2 cup serving. Only problem with it is that it has malitol 10 gms per half cup, so I never eat that much at a time. I use them as something to grab a handful of when I need something to snack on, or add it to oatmeal. It is so good added to the oats. This is what I am going to have again this morning!!! Yummy!!!
BTW - Carb Busters and the two sisters place in PA used to carry this for about $8.00 a bag. Good stuff at an excellent price. But can not guarantee that they will still have it there, I bought mine a while back. But certainly worth checking out perhaps since it is not that far from you? I sure hope you find it there, cause I think you will like it as much as I do! If you go, please let me know if they still carry it. If I make it there before you, I will let you know also.
Hugs,
Tammy
My favorite meal is still breakfast. I have been having the same meal for almost year. I have a bowl of oat meal with 2 tblspoons of flax seed meal, a scoop of Unjury, cinnamon, a pack of splenda, and 1/2 cup of soy milk. That gives me my pick-me-up in the morning and more than 20grams of protein to start the day. I sometimes throw in a 1/3 cup of flax cereal with pumpkin seed crunchers (trader Joes) to give it some extra texture. Haven't tried the sunflower seeds in the oatmeal yet but I think I will. I have actually been on a nut rationing because I find it is much to easy to eat too many of those little guys.
Every day is a great adventure.
