Okay guys, we have a distress call by one of our own who needs some accountability and ideas in the food department. I think this is an excellent idea and am more than glad to post the topic as requested (although, I think it may have been Shay that originally posted these topics? It may have been me, gosh I don't remember) I am thinking that this is an excellent idea for me as well, since I am not losing hardly at all at this point. Perhaps something will jump out and someone will say "EUREKA - there is Tammy's problem!!!" (and then share it with me of course so that it may jump start me into losing the rest of this weight). So here goes guys ... please post your food intake for yesterday, Monday November 1. It will also help remind those who are new to the boards whether you are pre-op or post-op and your time out of surgery also. Thanks again for all your support!!! Hugs, Tammy

Okay guys, here is my unedited food diary for yesterday ... gosh looking at it now, where in the world are my green veggies??? Got the tomatoes covered though!!! Add to this about 80oz of water (usually get a lot more than that). Have I went from not enough calories to too many??? Still trying to get this all figured out!!! HELP??? (B) 1 homemade meatball (1.5") with 1/8 c. Bella Vita Spaghetti Sauce, sprinkled with 1/8 c mozzarella cheese. Cooked two, ate one - BOY was this good, but oh so filling! Mini snack (unplanned) about 10 cashews (S) Protein Smoothie (30 gms protein - Proplete Gold Pineapple-Vanilla (I also use Unjury unflavored here sometimes) Carb Count Down Orange Juice (also use SF Tang/Crystal Light Sunrise**** swig of DaVinci SF Vanilla Syrup = Yummy!!! This drink is simply WONDERFUL!!! (L) 1/2 cup Homemade Chili (lot's of kidney beans to up the protein) 3 saltine crackers (D) 1 KFC chicken leg (no skin), 1 bite of mashed potatoes, 1/2 biscuit (was supposed to have my anniversary dinner here, but the baby was still sick, so hubby went out and bought chicken instead as hubby insisted that I was NOT going to cook on our anniversary, even if it meant we were going to eat KFC) (S) Protein Smoothie (30 gms protein - 1/2 Whey Stack / 1/2 ProScore 100) Water, Ice = Yummy!!! I drank/ate this while hubby had snickers ice cream and quite honestly, I think I got the better deal!!! OH, I forgot, I did have one maraschino cherry also ... used to LOVE these pre-op, and this was the first one I had post-op and it tasted awful to me!!! Go figure!

Question on the food journaling thing. Do you all count your Hood Carb Count Down juice as part of your water/ fluid intake? I am finding it so hard to get that fluid in that I am looking for everything I can count. I only make my shakes with water or decaf coffee so I can count it as a water too. Got in about 56 oz yesterday and that is way low in comparison. Could also be why I'm loosing so slow. Thanks for the input. Kristina

Kristina, Either the nutritionist, The Doc or Brett told me that anything that melts when room temp is counted as a fluid. Milk, water, juice, Popsicles, jello, broth, decaf tea and coffee, etc etc etc. Yes, definitely count your carb countdown as liquid. Just remember that each cup has 25 calories, so count them also if you are counting calories. I had a hard time at first getting in pure water ... now it is usually not a problem for me. Although, it didn't sit too well the other day. Funny how our pouches can get grouchy when we least expect it!!! Hang in there Kristina ... just keep doing your best to do what you are supposed to do ... don't concentrate on losing weight at this point, just concentrate on changing your eating habits, getting in that fluid, protein, and vitamins. BTW - you are getting in your B-12 right? I plan to make a trip to Trader Joe's soon hopefully and I will grab you another bottle while I am there if you are still going to need it? Let me know! BTW Part 2 - how are you feeling these days? Since I didn't hear anything more, I assumed that all was well? Hugs, Tammy

Tina, Yes, honesty is a true virtue! And I am so proud of you for putting yourself out there when you came to your friends on this board and shared with them your struggles. It can be a real hard and scary thing to do to put ourselves out on the line. Sure do take a chance of someone coming along and knocking the feet right out beneath us. But we are so blessed here ... Our docs and this board is full of concerned and caring people/friends who I wholeheartedly believe would never intentionally do that to anyone. There are here to support and help whatever way they can. Thus we are so very blessed, because I think that by being open and honest that is the only real way that any of us can get through all of this. Since you were honest here and you asked a question, I honestly believe you like me are searching for real answers, not just a pat on the back and say it is all going to be alright? So I hope you don't mind if I am honest with you in something I see. Please understand where I am coming from here Tina, no way do I want to offend, I only want to help you AND obviously I am not claiming to be an expert, since I am dealing with my own problems here. With that said, I did notice that you did not get in much in the way of liquids. I know you already know that, but I wanted to share that when I don't get in enough liquids, I tend to want to graze and eat more on those days, and especially crave the carbs/sweets. Not sure why that happens, but it does. And just lately there are times that I even have to up the fluids even more to help cut the carb cravings. As a matter of fact, I just came off a protein fast to help kill the carb monster and it really helped me, but boy was the beginning of that first day ever hard. I had some pretty trippy head cravings!!! You probably already know this, but I wanted to mention it just in case you didn't and you would find it helpful to answer your question. Love ya Tina, sure hope you still call me friend! Hugs, Tammy
