Secrets to Consignment Shopping?
OK, I was driving by the Goodwill today and stopped in, thinking I would see what was up and possibly get some smaller clothes because as you saw last night I was whining about not really "needing" smaller clothes. Even though I lost 50 pounds so far.
I talked to a couple of my friends and they were real honest with me. They said "we can see your weight loss -- and pointed out like my face, my neck, in the back, in the front" -- OK, well all over. And they suggested I try some smaller sizes and they were sure I would be pleasantly surprised.
Well, what's the secret to shopping Goodwill etc.????? I was TOTALLY shocked that the setup (at least at the one I was, MAYBE all?) was by color. Here are all the black pants -- rows of them in all sizes small to the plus! Here are the red tops! Here are the blue tops!
I HATE to shop so I couldn't think of more torture than to have to go through the whole store like that! UH OH, guess I'm whining again.
My favorite Goodwill is the one in Elkton, I think it is set up the best and is a bit nicer then some of the others I've gone to in DE. I think the street it is on is called Bridge street. It is really easy to get to - from Rt 40 heading into Elkton make a right when you get to McDonalds and it is about a mile or 2 on the left. Or coming from the other side of Newark come down Newark/Elkton Rd toward Elkton, make a left at City Pharmacy and it is a mile or two on the right (go over 2 bridges). It is in a shopping center that also has a Curves, Capriatties, Dialysis, Nail store & a few other things. I think it is called Mariner or Marina shoppes or something like that. Don't give up - just take a zanax first - good luck!
Thanks Kathy,
I'll have to try your suggestions and check out a few places until I find one I am comfortable with. Not that it will be an easy task! Like I said, I hate to clothes shop -- always did -- I NEVER EVER take the time to try clothes or shoes or whatever on. I go in and out as fast as I possibly can. OR catalog shop. Returns are inevitable! Sounds like I'll have to change my routine if I am going to make this work out.
Linda, Thanks!
Everyone makes it sound worthwhile so I guess I have to make some changes in my shopping habits. I did decide I should at least go to a department store and try on some sizes so I have a "clue" of what I am looking for. Not that it always helps, different styles are cut different....I really hate to shop for clothes! But I appreciate your advice.
