Hello to all my friends, I am several days shy of being one month out. I was wondering what to expect this upcoming month. Is there food to avoid or eat. Can I begin an exercise program or what. Will my taste buds get better. I hope!!! Thanks for all your responses. Cynthia P

I would wait to get clearence from your surgeon before you begin your exercise program. Walking is great now..but wait till you get the all clear. Your taste buds get better..but, you will find you will not want certain foods again. Tuna was so heavy in my pouch..that I no longer eat it..I'm so tired of cottage cheese and applesauce..I'm trying to bring those back in my diet. You will find out what you prefer..but its all one step at a time. All I wanted first..was something crunchy..and a ceaser salad. The salad was soooo good. Whats amazing..is how wonderful food and fruit will taste..you will enjoy the food more then before..and savor each bite..then you're full. But, just chew very, very well. I had a hard time with scrambled eggs..and still do If i don't chew well. They just kinda stick in my chest. I'm sure others will have some wonderful ideas and suggestions! Congrats!!! Kimberly

Cindi, I started in the pool at Kirkwood on my 1 month anniversary. Prior to that I walked the treadmill or track only. I think the DR. cleared me for the nataulis eq at about 6 weeks out. I went for the exercise evaluation at PMRI, pd $90 then, now it's $125. The therapist at PMRI pretty much concurred everything that the trainor at Kirkwood wanted me to do. I started out slowly. Didn't want to rip or tear anything. It only gets better. Now the food issue. The doc's and PMRI will give you sample menu's. Good luck. Way too much food at first. Eat little bits alot throughout the day. Try to stick to the 20 minute rule. AVOID SUGAR. IT IS POISON. Try to not let yourself even try a little just to test the dumping theory. I'm sure that others will tell you that 1st you can tolerate a little, then you want more and more. Try not to go there. You're gonna find foods you used to like are blah now and you may find some new ones. Keep a food journal. Remember to get in your proteins 1st and your liquids 2nd. Food will start to taste more normal at about 3 months out, especially eggs. Above all, try to stay positive and focused. Any questions give me a call. ((HUGS)) Elissa
