Ok..it took a lot for me to come on here..But, I do need help..(Linda, be nice! lol)I have been so attracted to peanut m&m's lately..and tried some..and some more...Anyway...I'm so disappointed in myself. Tina, you are not alone..I'll stand with you...I've analyzed why I've been so drawn to chocolate lately...I know I have been under extra stress..a couple of you know..I thought I might have cancer..but Thank the Lord..I just got my biopsy back..and although it was abnormal..its not cancer...just yet..but I will have surgery in the Spring to make sure it doesn't start up....anyway..thats still no excuse. I've come so far, to be so close to goal..and my life is just changed incredibly..but I admit...that I'm an addict. Chocolate! UGH! Any suggestions to help..I'm trying to increase my fluids even more..and putting things away. I'm just afraid if I try and try again..I'll get caught up in the old bad cycle. I just cannot do that. Thanks in advance...and be gentle! Hugs, Kimberly

Let me add..as a warning..the reason I tried the chocolate..was to help move ..well my bowels....I have been in so much pain lately..I was willing to have a dumping epsoide...but it didn't even work. It just made my craving come back. So, please don't try this!!! I talked to Brett and we are working on getting things in working order(bowel wise)..and I did not tell him about the chocolate..I was too embarrassed!

Kimberly, I am there with you when it comes to the sweets addiction. I have been slowly breaking the habit. I can eat a bit of chocolate too. I think our best bet is to quit cold turkey for awhile to get the sugar out of our systems. I am trying to get myself to do it. I am moving so the stress of all of that is piling on and I'm tempted to reach for those little goodies! BUT we have to substitute instead I guess. I bought a few protein bars that have some chocolate on them that helps a little, but unfortunately I think quitting cold turkey for a week or 2 will be the best bet I wish you the best of luck! Hang in there Kimberly!!!! I think it was linda that said it best to Tina. We all stumble and fall occasionally, we don't lose until we quit trying to get back up! I've stumbled, tripped, fallen flat on my face with ice cream. It all started with some SF, Fat free ice cream....didn't taste quite right, so I had to have a taste of the real thing. Next thing I know.....I was eating straight from the container Stress probably has something to do with it for all of us, but aren't we giving ourselves just as much stress with worrying about this cheating thing ?!?!? Just put the M&Ms down and walk away Better yet, throw them down the garbage disposal !! Let some stress out on those candies !!!! Ken PS, I put the ice cream in the microwave to melt it, then poured it down the drain !!!

Hey Kim, I hear ya, and I'm sorry that you are struggling with the chocomonster. It's not just choc for me, but all sweets, I'm having a rough week again, even though last week was a good one. You have done so wonderfully, I've been so jealous, yes, I'll admit it. You will get back on track, let's pull each other along. Elissa called me to wish me a happy anniv.. it's been 9 mos..and I really thought I'd have lost way more than I have by now, the time is ticking by..and I'm wasting it. You are further along on your journey, so keep plugging along dear. ps.. I'm emailing more,..we have a bit more in common than you think. take care, T

Kimberly, STEP AWAY FROM THE M&Ms. Seriously, everyone has posted good ideas. But the big problem is that you usually can't just flush things down the sink when they don't fit your requirements, because the rest of the family has their needs, people at the office have their needs, and the people that go to Dunkin Donuts or Krispy Kreme have their needs. We need to live in a bad and dangerous world. Sweets, fast food, and yucch our part of our lives and we need to deal with them somehow. One suggestion is to try a smoothie... I know, here goes Rob with his stupid smoothie again, but I still have two a day and (knock on wood) those smoothies have helped me kick my craving for sweets. I actually can sit at a meeting next to a batch of fresh baked cookies and not feel any temptation. Two reasons, I know that I am not scheduled to eat (need to be like a robot), and secondly I really like to plan the meals that I get to eat. So now for the pep talk. You've done great so far and have gone through significant changes over the past year (no one else has moved to Texas) and had an operation that altered your life significantly. You need to start tomorrow with a fresh atttitude. You can get back on the wagon any day you want, there is certainly a lot more room on the wagon today since everyone is getting so small, so why not today... Just put your mind in gear, look at your pictures from last year, and take a walk. Post when you get weak, and remember that no one is perfect.... From the former major owner of M&M stock, Rob

Kim, It was so great chatting with you last week. Glad the results came back negative. Another friend of mine is awaiting her results for a biopsy today. Hope she gets good news too. Crossing my fingers with an extra prayer. I'm on pins and needles waiting for her to call me. About the chocolate. Sorry I hate chocolate. Never liked it before and still don't. So I can't tell you anything on how to avoid it, except treat chocolate like a narcotic. Similar to smoking, alcohol or drugs. It makes you stay addicted to it. I never drank alcohol so 1 more non-issue for me. I went to a hypnotist to stop smoking. It did worked for me. I'll tell you what I keep saying to Tina. "Stay away from the vending machine. There is evil poison in there." Try not to keep it around. The less temptation the better for right now while you are weak. The choco-monster will entice you and call you. Stay strong. Good luck with Halloween upon us. Do the kids Trick or Treat in Texas? Well, start next week after all candy is eaten and out of the house. And you know what if you eat 2 peanut M & M's, the peanuts gotta count for something. Try to knock off the chocolate. Have a good holiday. ((HUGS)) Elissa

Oh heck, I'm a rebel. I say what the hell if it is not a detriment and you are getting some enjoyment from it and it is not making you gain weight and you are still getting in your protein and the good for you nutrients - have the damn peanut m&ms sometimes when you want them - every day if they fit into your above described lifestyle and kick the guilt to the curb. You may think -- well... we know how she ended up needing a bypass... lol - but seriously - don't forget that life is short and that is 1 reason many of us choose this surgery. We want to LIVE! So make a caloric allotment so you can eat some m & m's and love yourself for all of your FANTASTIC accomplishments. Here is a quote my frient has on her email - I love it. Life's journey is not to arrive safely at the grave in a well preserved body but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "Holy s**t...what a ride!". Now, how are you gonna do that if you worry too much over a couple peanut m&m's? Now go enjoy one of those mini halloween fun size bag of peanut m&m's and be happy and proud that it will never again be 1/2 of one of those 2lb bags of peanut m & ms. Personally - I am hoping my son gets lots of Resses Sticks. I want to stick them in the freezer & take one out when I get a craving - 7 grams of sugar & pure heaven!
