Update on Nicki

Hi all, I just spoke with Rick. Nicki is in her room now. She has had a couple of horrible days. She had fluid in her old stomach. They found out that it caused an infection. Her intestine also kinked again. They had to do open surgery. She should be in for another week and hopefully able to be out and about in couple of weeks. Let's all say a prayer for Nicki and for Rick. He was very emotional when I spoke to him. He is a terrific guy and needs our support. Best wishes, Deb

I talked to Rick about 5 o'clock. Nicki's is out & recouping already. He's hanging in there too. Thanked everyone for caring soooooo much. We'll try to give you updates as we get them. 3rd times a charm. Let's all pray those pesky intestines stay where they should and stop kinking. A little super glue might hold them in place. Elissa

Nicki is really going to need LOTS of support. I remember not being able to take a shower for the LONGEST time because of the darn drainage bag that she will have to wear. I was so depressed and felt like crap for the 3 months that I had to wear my drainage bag. She will have to wear it until the old stomach stops creating the "bile". It has an awful smell to it that gives you extra nasty nausea. Been there, done that!! Not fun at all. We've all got to keep her in our prayers and try to keep her laughing too! This part was worse then the surgery itself.

Ginger, Good point! I really feel for Nicki, she has such a great attitude...but this is going to be difficult on her...but we have the best bunch of support buddies here!!! Thanks Elissa and Debbie for the updates!!! Hugs, Kimberly
