Nicki update
Hi all,
I spoke with Nicki last night. I have to admit, she was very groggy and I didn't get much of the conversation. I feel terrible for her. The good news is, they found fluid in her old stomach. They feel this is the cause of all her problems. She will not be having surgery now, thank God!
I think those many prayers were answered.
I'll keep everyone posted as I speak to her today.
Love,
Deb
Thanks Deb for the update....I went to see her last night @ the hospital and just missed her the nurse said...they were taking her for testing then. And the nurse said she could be gone for and hour or two. So I dropped off my goodies and left a little note. Yes God DOES answer prayers!! Thank God....Hats off to our awesome doctors
Nickie called me around 11:30 today. She is still in pain & exhausted. She will be moved to another floor at some point today. 2nd she thinks. Into a step-down unit? She mentioned something about not needing surgery, didn't quite understand, which what Deb said so it makes more sense. I hated to ask too much. She was so out of breath, I got her off as quick as I could. She wanted me to let everyone know thanks for the prayers. Thanks for stopping in Val & Deb & Shay. Sorry she missed you all. Keep praying folks. She's happy we're all here for her. Elissa
Nicki called at 12:45. She has her cell phone with her. She's in TSU, a transitional unit. Rm 2241. Only 2 visitors at a time, certain times of the day. Check before you go. She explained about her old stomach being enlarged with fluids & gas built-up. Her rib cage is hurting, she had trouble talking. She had the procedure while awake and was painfull. Sounds like she had and EGD and NG tube ((must have been a child's size ??)) at the same time so they could see where they were going?? Gosh I know I had the EGD awake and it was pretty horrible. What a trooper, she really wants everyone to know she's okay and thanks for the prayers. I gave her the sheet of Friends supporting Friends that some of us signed yesterday. She really loved it and thanked everyone. Will update as we find out more.
Thanks so much Deb and Elissa for updating. I was sooooooooo worried just like everyone else about her. I'm so glad they found the problem, she desserves some relief. And not having the intended surgery is such a blessing. Prayer is powerful and so is this group of wonderful people.
Looking for more updates when you get them.
Dianne
She is in my prayers as well. We all hope that she gets well soon as she is an inspiration to so many of us. This is the third person I know who has had some pretty serious complications. This surgery definitely needs to be looked at with our eyes wide open. It is not an easy path even without complications.
We all wish her the best and are thankful that she didn't have to have that additional surgery.
Please keep our friend NORMA in prayer as well. She still is in the hospital and has been having a difficult time for the entire three months since her surgery. It has been a real strain on her personally and her family as well as her job situation. She is a widow and really needs that income.
It would be wonderful if those of us who "lurk" on the posts without "posting" to the posts would send both of these lovely ladies a "Get well quick note". (I am including myself in this group)
So, Deb would you please give us instructions? We want these ladies to know that we care.
God Bless,
Mama
I too had fluid build up in the "old stomach" and had to wear a drainage bag for almost 3 months. It's going to take some time to get over this but she will start to feel better... finally. I just hope she doen't have the problem with the extreme nausea like I had. I'm glad it Niki didn't have to have major surgery again... Although, being awake for this procedure was not fun!! I can still remember it like yesterday!!! AHHHH!!!! Wait till she has to get that tube out! Ouch! Certainly keep her in your prayers!
