Hi Carol ! Welcome to the Delaware boards. Not sure about medicare/medicaide info.. But the post surgical diet is basically, 2 days of liquids, then 1 month of pureed foods (anything that can fit through a straw, WITHOUT the straw). I've seen some people eat some strange foods! Most..ok, some, people use many protein drinks. Or cottage or ricotta cheese (lots of protein), SF jello & puddings (can add protein powders to the instants). Bean with bacon soup, cream of potato, or any others, just blend them, then heat & eat. Remember to fortify your milk...1 pkg NF dry milk to a quart of NF milk, it doubles your proteins and when you add this to a scoop of Isopure powder, it's 41 grams of protein (8oz milk), of course this is 2-3 meals your 1st week! Hope this helps out. Valerie

Carol- Welcome! Actually I work in the office and we just recently go accepted and creditialed with Medicaid. I know that Medicare does cover the surgery. Mistee will be in touch with you and you should be in touch with her as things progress. My hats off to you! You can ask the doctors or the dieticians for a copy of the diet information of pre and post gastric bypass. Nicki

Hi Carol I have Aetna, so I am unable to help you with the insurance questions. My surgery is scheduled for Dec 1 so we will be in the hospital at the same time. I am so glad that you joined the DE board. You'll meet lots of really nice caring people who are also going thru the same journey. I was wondering if you could ask for my copy of the handouts given at the Oct 18th's Life Skills Class for me. I could get them from you the week after at the next Life Skills Class. Hope to see you on Saturday at the PMRI meeting. Rose this is us walking the halls at the hospital.
