Hey Rob - Spinning?
Hey Rob, I know that you took up spinning early on after your surgery. I have recently started taking classes and I really like it. It is a good workout! currently our classes are for an hour. I try to stay the whole time but can't. NOw here is my question. What did you do about the seat?
Oh my, the seat hurts real bad. I am going to buy the little cushion to take with me from now on, but I can't see how that will help with the pain from the seat. What did you do? Did you have the pain of the seat? I am not sure if I can keep taking the classes with the constant pain. Any help would be appreciated. ~Shelly

I think the cushion around the tailbone must be first thing to go. I had to work through the pain during spinning and there was a lot of it. They do make a cover for the seat that is filled with gel, but not sure how well it works. My butt went through painful stretches on the Bike to the Bay. I haven't had the pain recently during spinning class, so maybe I have worked through it. I still do get pain from sitting in one hard chair (like at a restaraunt) for more than an hour. I think I'll ask the exercise guru on Saturday if he has any suggestions.
Sore Seat Rob
Congrats on the Bike to the Bay Rob, I haven't been around the boards lately! I don't feel the pain at first, but half way through the class and I am standing up peddling when the rest of the class is sitting down.
Then I have pain for a few days. I don't know if I am going to be able to "ride" this out. I will pick up the gel seat and see if it is better. Please let me know what your excercise guru suggests. Thanks for the reply Talk with you soon. ~Shelly

Hi Ellen, Spinning is kinda like riding a stationary bike, but it is with an instructor. The instructor goes through a number of different type of riding conditions like, going up hills, low/hi intensity, like speed peddling etc.. It is kinda cool. The only thing is that the seat is very small. It doesn't hurt at first, but by the time I am done, my tailbone hurts really bad. It's a good workout. You can burn about 800 calories in one class. I sweat so much I had to start wearing a bandana around my head to catch the sweat from dropping in my eyes. ~O'Shell
I spin at Body Vision's Fitness Centre. It is across from TExas roadhouse. It's funny. Before surgery, my husband and I would leave the gym and go straight across the street to Texas Roadhouse. We figured, we worked out, now we can eat. Ok I digressed, but they have at least 2 classes a day, at least one in the morning, like 6 am and one in the after 5 pm. They have also started at 12 noon spinning lunch hour. I can't make those as I work in Philly.
