INTERESTING CONCEPT?

Did anyone see recent ads for a new dental device (like a retainer) that slows down food intake and ultimately helps you feel full since you are eating slower? (People Magazine 10/11 issue) It's seems to be legit. You have to go to a dentist to get it and it's custom made like a retainer or mouthguard would be. Anyhow, I'm post WLS and very happy with the fact that I had surgery. I just thought it was interesting and wondering if anyone else saw it. OK, so yell at me that "People" magazine is my alternative to "Newsweek." At least I know what all the stars are up to! A little more uplifting than world affairs these days! :>)

I haven't seen the device. I'm inclined to think it's like anything else...for some it will work for the vast majority it won't and will be just another gizmo in the long line of weight loss schemes. It probably just costs more and "seems" more credible to some since you have to go to an actual dentist to get it I guess for some it would be just gimmicky enough to give them a mind over matter success, but rarely are those successful for any length of time. There is also the fact that if you REALLY want to inhale the giant hoagie you can always take it out and chow down Takes all kinds to make the world go round. lol no flaming from me for your choice of reading materials these days. I find those magazines to be a heck of alot more informational lately than the hot air, finger pointing, he said / I did NOT say of a politically charged election year. LOL don't even get me started on politics, cause from what I've seen from the present administration and the potential future administration, I'm writing in Mickey Mouse on my ballot

Donald Duck gets my vote! Anyhow, I think you are right that there is a lot of hype about weight loss regimes, making them sound like they are miracle cures. You and I know, it's HARD WORK whatever the route you choose! And of course, what works for one, doesn't always work for another. I guess since I've spent a lifetime battling weight issues, I am always fascinated by what's NEW out there. Time will only tell if this device pans out as a fake or not. I just thought it was an interesting (and unusual) concept. I hear the medical community is also working on some sort of pacemaker-like device that alerts your brain to release the "I'm full" hormone. (think I read about that in People too!). As far as I am concerned, WLS rules! Kit
