Monday's the day!
Hi everyone,
Well, my surgery day is almost here . . . Monday, Oct. 11 is the day at the Barix Clinic in Langhorne, PA. I feel a little out of the DE Board loop since I'm having surgery out of Delaware (open vs. lap, different prep instructions, different post-op diet timelines, etc.), but since I'm "over-age", I didn't have any choice! Nonetheless, I've learned LOTS from all of your posts and from PMRI support group meetings and feel as ready as I can be to take this step. Although there may be differences in protocols,
I think we all share similar pre-op struggles and post-op hopes. So thank you all for your willingness to share your insights so openly---it means a lot.
I won't deny that I'm feeling anxious, but being without any Vioxx, Celebrex, or NSAIDS for the last two weeks has made it crystal clear (if I had any doubt) about why this surgery is a must. I thought I hurt before when I was taking the meds---without them I look like Lurch (from the Addams Family, I think) when I move around!!! Not a pretty sight. And that is only ONE of many reasons why I'm looking forward to WLS despite my anxieties. I realize that all my pains probably won't disappear (being "over-age" and all!), but surely losing some weight will help.
So thank you for listening--and send a good thought or two my way on Monday, if you will. Thanks, Martha
Hi Martha,
Congratulations to you and I wish you all the success in the world! Ya know, we all may have a different way of getting there, but the destination is the same. There are plenty of people on the Delaware board from downstate that can identify with an open procedure, definitely put a shout out to them for help.
Your doctors protocol may differ slightly from mine but we're all in this together and I will give you every tidbit that I can toi help you along the way as we all KNOW I have no problems expressing my thoughts
We're all just a message away.
