I did it!

I finished the Bike to the Bay yesterday!! All the rain and winds couldn't stop me. I was only 5 miles into the ride when I got my first flat. Then another. Then I had a problem with my brakes. I didn't start off on a good note... but it felt so good to cross that finish line! It took me 9 1/2 hours to ride from Del-Tech in Dover to Dewey Beach. They had us on back roads that I never knew exsisted in DE. I met a lot of nice people along the way. I just wanted to thank all of you that sponsered me for the ride. I still can't believe I accomplished this feat! I could barely walk last night when I got off that bike. But today I'm feeling pretty good except for my BUTT! Boy does it hurt!

Great job. You really perservered. That was the ugliest weather we had on Saturday. I looked for you at the starting line but with 2200 people and a downpour it was tough to see anything. My butt also hurts but I was told to soak in a tub with cups of epsom salt and my whole body feels much better now. Next year we do the obesityhelp.com team. How'd you handle the food at the rest stops? I carried everything with me just so I wouldn't fall off the wagon. Sorry about all the bike problems, but your amazing that you got to the finish line. Our State Farm Team left right after the MBNA team at 8 am when the down pour started. Next year I really need to pack my own foods. I had a hard time between the stops. I finally stuffed some banana's in my bike shirt that I could eat when I started to feel a little light headed. I am totally amazed that I finished. I think what kept me going was the fact that some people told me I would never be able to make it. I made sure I called them on my cell phone at the finish line!!! One thing I will do different from this year is rent a "real" bike. I felt like some hillbilly out there on my mountain bike with big ole beefy tires. I think that really slowed me down and not to mention how much harder it was on my body. There was a girl, Melissa, on my team that teaches a spinners class at the Y. I'm not sure if she teaches your class or not. She made it down there in no time. How long did it take you?
