I did it...
I made it through my EGD today. It wasn't too bad. I was not completely asleep. So I did alot of gagging. They did find a small hernia and took some biopsies, but said everything looked good.
I sure am glad that's over with now. The next step is my stress test next week. I hope that won't be as bad. Thanks for listening.

Michelle, I was wide awake for my EGD 5 weeks after my WLS. I was never required to have one before.????? My BP was very low so I couldn't have any meds. The whole thing lasted about 7 minutes. It wasn't too bad. I kept trying to apoligize to Dr. Irgau for gagging and burping in his face. He kept talking to me and telling me it was alright and I was doing fine. Thank goodness it wasn't a long procedure. Are you gonna do the treadmill stress test or the medicated stress test. I was unable to do the walking treadmill one and opted for the meds. It was a piece of cake. Good luck. Elissa
Elissa,
I had Dr. Peters and the same thing was happening to me I was burping and gagging, thank goodness it did not take long. I will be having the chemical stress test by Dr. Kumar. I broke my 5 bones in my foot back in February and it's still not right, then I had back surgery in April. So Dr. Kumar figured the chemical will be better for me. How does the stress test go? Thank you for responding.
Michele
Glad to hear one more thing outta the way...
I just can't believe that they can't put everyone under enough to not remember it. I've had two now and have to have a third egd and I pray it works the same. I do not want to know what is going on. Dr Irgau did my first and Peters did my second and I was unaware of them both.
I also had the stress test with the meds (persantine, is it?). I wasn't crazy about it but it doesn't last long so no biggie. You will do fine, especially if you went through the egd awake it shouldn't be too bad for you. Wishing you well through this next step
Dianne
PS something weird... I seem to have reacted to the tape that they used to hold my IV in for the egd. That has never happened before. Wonder how that could change...
