Prior to surgery is everyone required to have an EGD? Aisha

Aisha, Not everyone ... I didn't have one. Not sure of the protocol for the procedure, but whatever it is, I didn't fall into that category. I am pretty sure it didn't have anything to do with my pleading, begging, attempted bribe, jumping up and down and down right adolescent fit that kept me from getting one though. Take care, Tammy

Hi Aisha, I had one. Not sure what they base it on. I had no real prior history of any stomach problems. I'm thinking this may be one of the things they have changed along the way...everyone gets a peek inside before surgery? Anyway, no worries, the procedure was a snap. ( for me anyway ) Linda

Aisha, I was not required to have one pre surgery. I did however have one 5 weeks after surgery. The Doc's will let you know if you need it. It is a simple procedure done as an outpatient. Takes only about an hour or so of your time. The procedure itself lasts less than 10 minutes. You'll need to have someone drive you home. Never know how the meds will react on you. Elissa
