I have my appointments...
Well I have Dr Kumar and my nutrition class tomorrow, EGD on Thursday, Dr Vasile on 10/20 and my PMRI appointments on 11/11 and 11/19, so hopefully surgery will be scheduled January or February. I find myself laying in bed alot and munching on snacks, I know this is not good and I don't know why I am doing this. I did see a young girl today at work that had the surgery 2 years ago, let me tell you she looks great. I just keep thinking that its almost time to pack up the summer clothes and it might be the last time to see those, that is exciting. I'm trying not to buy more clothes because hopefully I won't be in this size much longer. I'm ok with everything and I'm starting to get really excited. I'm just a little concern when I have to tell my boss that I'll be out of work for awhile. I was out in February for a month with a broken foot, then in May for a month for back surgery. I think once I have this surgery there will not be so many doctor appointments because I will be healthy. Sorry this is so long. Thanks for listening.

Hi Michele! Congratulations on getting everything scheduled. I'm not sure if your surgery is through CHRIAS but you should also be prepared to have to take the 12 week Gastric Bypass Life Skills class at PMRI if your surgeon is Dr. irgau or Dr. Wynn. It's a good class (even if it's not covered by insurance). There was talk that they might make it mandatory. In any case, it will help you stay focused on healthy behaviors so that might help eliminate the munching on snacks.
Get ready for a wild journey! I'm still pre-op but my surgery date is 10/26/04. I'm a consultant so I was a little hesitatnt about telling my boss about my surgery. Then I decided that, if I can face the fear of having the surgery, I can certainly face my boss. Luckily, he was cool about it. I didn't even mention what type of surgery I was having (and he didn't ask). I did take a look at the upcoming projects so that I could be prepared to offer solutions if he raised any issues.
Good luck with everything! Also, please don't apologize for the length of your postings. Sometimes we have a little to say and sometimes we have a lot. This is a great forum to share your thoughts and feelings with people who care and have experienced what you're going through.
Thanks for the input Cassandra. Someone did mention to me about the Life Skills class, but no one has told me that is something I need to take. I guess I'll be finding out with my appointments coming up. Who told you that you had to take them? How long do the classes take to complete? I'm wondering if it might be something I can start taking now, so I don't have to wait any longer when my other classes are complete. Thanks again.
