Had my endo done ...

I just got back from the endoscopy. Sir Brett was right, it's an ulcer. Brett had prescribed carafate that day. It's a liquid and has to be taken on empty stomach four times per day. Also can't take antacids with it, so I bought some viactiv just to make things easier to schedule all the meds. Dr Peters did the endo, he's great! I don't remember a thing, just the way I like it, lol! He rx'd prevacid. It's little packets to mix with 2 tablespoons of water and only has to be taken once per day. I only got 1 month of that. The one Brett gave me is to help the pain and to heal the ulcer and I'll take that for three months. So I do feel much better and happy to know it's something fixable. I have been told to have another edoscopy done in 2 months. That's about the time I return to Chrias. I've been feeling better since I got the med from Brett on Friday. Taking my feedings slow and easy, not doing much meat at all and almost everything goes and stays down and I'm not weak and tired anymore. The kids and I joined the Y. We joined Kirkwood Hwy because they have more for the kids. I haven't oriented on the equipment yet, but I very boldly put on a swimsuit and used the pool (that's a big step for me!). Hopefully, I'll be taking more steps forward and less steps backwards. Life is good. My sister, Debbie goes for her RNY tomorrow, I'll be at the hospital most of the day. Hoping everyone is doing well Dianne

Good news Dianne. That's funny, Sir Brett usually is right. It's good to know what is happening inside so that it can be treated with the right meds. Good luck with the Y. I know you and the boys are gonna love it. We'll all be praying for Debbie tomorrow. Let her know that we'll all see her on the other side to Welcome her to the looser's bench. Elissa

Dianne, I'm so glad that it turned out to be "just an ulcer" and nothing more serious! Good to know that you are already on the road to recovery! Congratulations on joining the Y. That is a fantastic step. Hope to see everyone on Saturday at PMRI !! Ken

HI Dianne, I am glad that you are on the mend and that the ulcer is treatable. Did Dr Peters say why an ulcer formed? Are we all predisposed to that? So yoiu joined Kirkwood Y? You will have to let me know how it goes. I really have to increase my activity level and still not sure which gym I will join. Take care and I hope to meet you on Saturday at PMRI! Bye Terre

The ulcers are something that some of us seem to be prone to after surgery. I was reading a lot about it on the main boards, too. I love the pool at the Y. The kids are having fun, too. I am still too timid to actually use the machines, but the kids will orient on the kids machines tomorrow so if I can keep up my nerve, I'll do it then. Dianne
