WARNING ABOUT DENTAL INFO
Hi, A couple days back I posted about my "dental woes" and I appreciate all of you *****sponded. I wanted to post a general update however --
Anyone who has recently had surgery should check first with your surgeon's office BEFORE going to the dentist, even for a routine visit. Especially if you are on Lovenox or something like that. On those meds, or recently off them, you can have problems with excessive bleeding, even just having your teeth cleaned.
I figured if my woes had anyone running to their dentist as a preventative, I better add this.
KIT
Just another note regarding Dental woes....
Be sure to keep taking those calcium supplements daily. I know a girl that had the surgery about 3 years ago. She stopped taking her calcium everyday... now she has very brittle and cracking teeth.
I seen it in person and that was enough to scare me... I never miss a vitamin or supplement!
Ginger
Ginger, Funny you should say that. That was one of the things my dentist told me to make sure I do. Calcium is good for your teeth too! I am also going more often to have my teeth cleaned but that could be just me. I am also using a flouride treatment toothpaste (a prescription one). Maybe just me too! Thanks for the additional info.
Hi Kitty, good info.
I also have had many problems with my teeth, more in the last 6 mos than my whole life. I attribute it to the chewable vitamins, tums etc. I'm working on getting my 3rd crown in 6 months. Funny, during the last PMRI meeting when someone (you?) mentioned the problems with teeth and chewing vitamins to Brett, he said "hmm, I've never heard that", but yet I told him about it in my 3 and 6 months post-op follow ups. Guess this is one more thing that no one really knew about or told us about, I knew it never occured to me that the chewables could wreck so much havoc on our teeth.
Take care,
T
