What I really need?
Hi Aisha,
I took very few things with me to the hospital and what few things I did take I never touched. I kept on the footies they put on me when I was admitted the whole time and used their gowns as they were easier to navigate in when wired up to IV poles, catheters etc. They provided soap, toothbrush, toothpaste etc for me to get cleaned up the second day. No shower but I was allowed to wash up a bit.
I wish I had a private room, but didn't think to as****il it was too late. One thing I did do was take my pillow with me, it was a lifesaver and I really wish I'd have brought two of them. Take a colored pillow case tho, lol I lost one of my good white ones when they came and changed my sheets when I was in the bathroom lol.

Hey Aisha,
I don't know too much about the phone situation.....I did make local calls @ the hospital. And @ no time did anyone mention a bill nor have I recieved a phone bill.
As far as what to take.....pack lightly. I agree with Linda
**You may want to take a couple pair of undies...
**Your own personal hygiene products (but they will provide if needed)
**pillow(s)---Especially for the ride home
**something very comfortable/roomy to wear home (sweats were good)
**Ponytail ties
I took a little extra stuff and never touched it.....
Aisha,
Ok, I wore loose clothes in the hospital, that I wore home. Took a toothbrush, my own toothpaste (picky!), a tube of vaseline (for my lips) and 1 of my moshi pillows. That's it! I carried all my 'little' things in a ziploc bag and put them in the bag with my clothes.
My mom also 'allowed' me to have my cell phone the 2nd day, that way I could make my long distance phone calls. there is no charge for local phone service or tv.
Best wishes!
Valerie
Aisha, All you'll need is chapstick. Leave the slippers and pj's at home. The gown and skid proof slippers they give you are okay. I brought a book, never opened it up. I did bring a toothbrush, mouthwas and a comb. Other than that, what you wear in you can wear home. Regarding the phone, that's up to you. Local calls should be okay. Elissa
It's a personal thing but I'd say pack it light. I opted for lipstick over chapstick because it made me feel a little better. My hair brush and a hair scrunchie. - depends on your hair type. They will give you a toothbrush and toothpaste if you ask - although the toothpaste didn't taste so special to me... So I'll bring my own when I go for my c-section. I found that they were more then willing to bring all the pillows I asked for (FOUR total) so I'd leave mine at home. You may want a bath robe or something of the like if you tend to get cold. They have lots of blankets & I found I often had one draped over my shoulders - a bathrobe might have felt better. I'd skip the slippers & just use the things they stick on your feet. If you are permitted to shower (seems to vary case by case) they will give you shampoo/soap & conditioner to get by. They have great lotion so just use theirs of you need it (Keri). Go****hink that is it... Sugar free mints?? Ask Brett. Here is my list...
1. Lipstick
2. Robe
3. Comfy home clothes (something with stretch because you may have
swelling from IV fluids - the beset trick is to wear in what you
plan to wear home)
4. Brush & scrunchy
5. toothpaste & deoderant (I'd just use their toothbrush rather then risk
losing my own)
6. Robe - if you tend to get cold. You can also wear 2 of theirs - one
forward and one backwards which takes care of mosesty & adds a
little bit of warmth.
Things to ask them for once settled in your room
1. toothbrush
2. Extra pillows/blankets as needed
3. lotion
4. Sanitary napkins if needed
Take care & best of luck! Now you have got me thinking abotu packing my bag --- it will have a few extra things in it like the bottles I want to use - cute little pink outfits...extra batteries for the camera.....
