Ladies, What happens if you're on your period when you're scheduled to have the surgery? Does that cause a problem? Are you still able to wear panties and pads (for those of us who don't do tampons)? Please remember that I've never had surgery as an adult so I'm trying to be "prepared." Sorry to be so blunt but if I don't ask - Iwon't know.

Cassandra, Yes, if you are on your period, you will be able to wear panties and pads. The lowest incision is right at the belly-button. I didn't have my period during surgery and I kept my panties on the whole time!!! Angie

Hi Cassandra, I was one of the lucky ones and started the day after I got home. It's very common for you to start in the hospital after surgery ( no matter where you are in your cycle ) the nurses are used to it and will help you if that happens. Good luck and I hope your body waits until it gets home! Linda

Hello regardless how all this sounds, you do need to know! the day of my surgery I started that morning and they will give you these thin mesh panties and a pad... I doubled up with 2 pads just in case, also when you come out of surgery you will have a cathiter ( oops I spelled wrong ) but you will be okay and they work with you really well. no need to take your on pads because they have huge ones (smile) but they are better for you. and they will give you this spray wash which helps alot. good luck ~ Vernette M
