Surgery Cancelled

I was scheduled to have surgery on Tuesday, 9/14... On Monday, while I was at work, Dr. Miller called to have me get a repeat chest x-ray, then later called to have me get a CT scan on Tuesday morning... When I went to the Day Surgery unit they got me all preped for surgery, even gave me a breathing treatment... Then Dr. Miller showed up and told me I had a 5 cm tumor in my chest that he thought might be lymphoma... So consequently, my surgery has been postponed pending a review by a pulmonologist. I have an appointment on Thursday, and will post the results then. Thanks for the support...

Dear Pamela, All of us on the boards are certainly standing with you during this time. Praise God that they have found it and they will get to the bottom of it. Just a word of encouragement: About 8 years ago during a routine chest x-ray they found a large tumor in my chest. It was hiding behind my heart. Things were quite alarming for several weeks. Of course I began to think of the worse scenerio even though I had learned that it could be any number of things. Well to make a long story short, I did have surgery to remove it and it turned out to be something quite rare but not life threatening. It was called a broncogenic cyst (although it showed up on all tests as a solid mass). This is a genetic thing that forms at 4 weeks gestation in the womb and just continued to grow as I got older. It would never have been found except for a very adept Dr. *****ad the x-ray. I had a number of x-rays before and no one had ever seen it, because they were looking for things like pneumonia etc. We are very blessed to live in a day and age where all these tests actually work. If you have any questions I'd be glad to talk to you. Just email back. Also don't be discouraged about the postponment of your Gastric By-Pass. All in good time and when everything is good for your new journey. God Bless, Mama
