GYM -- HUNTING!

Hi all, Its me again... anyone living the Bear/New Castle area that belongs to the New Castle Swim Club or the Fitness Center on 40 (near US 1 and the American Inn --can't think of the name -- not Curves). What is your experience and would you recommend it? I am looking for something close to home and that includes the eliptical and weights. I work at Christiana Hospital so something close to the hospital would do nicely too. Thanks for the input! Terre PS: I promise that is all the questions for the night!

Terre, I go to The Beach Fitness Center on Salem Church Road. It's about 10 minutes from the hospital. I have a three day pass if you are interested in trying it. Deb

I also work for Christiana Care at the VNA. We have Physical Therapy Plus in our building. Employees are offered a membership for $30.00 a month and they will reimburse each employee $100.00 per year through our human resources. Another alternative since you are right at the hospital is employee's are entitled to utilize the equipment at Christiana, Wilmington and the PMRI. I received an e-mail before my surgery regarding free use. I decided that because PT Plus is in my building I would be able to commit to exercise before work, at lunch or after work. PT Plus is also a Monday - Friday operation. Check it out...Good Luck Cindy

thanks Cindy! I have to check out the PT Plus near you. Is that the VNA on reads way? The PT plus across from the hospital is so small. Is yours a little bigger? I did not know we could use the equipment at Christiana though. I will have to look into this -- Frankly tho, I am a bit modest and would rather not have to sashay my self in front of staff I know in the hospital.. I'd rather leave and go elsewhere when the day is done! Take care and hope to meet you at a meeting sometime!

Yes, the New Castle Commons 1 Reads Way. It is slightly bigger I know the one near the hospital is a little close and sometimes hard to utilize the weights without sticking out in the hallway. I use to worry about seeing other people, but I now know the results of our labors will only enhance us. Check it out and good luck. I am starting Monday.

I too am looking. I've decided to join the Y. If you join during Sept they wave the "joining fee". I work at Wilmington Hospital and the central branch is right there. I think that's what I'll do. I'm signing the kids up, too. You can use any one of the Y's when you join. I am also in New Castle and there are none there, so I'll have to travel a little to take the kids, but that's ok.

Hi Dianne! I will check out the Y also. I am trying to find the best price and a place that is close to work/home.... I don't want any excuse not to go! Wow another employee! Hope you are doing better with the soft foods. I just cooked a recipe of egglpant parmessian and it is soo good!! Let me know if you want the recipe!
