I Can Finally Sit At The PC For a Few...
Hello Everyone,
I was just sitting here catching on all the posts from people. I have not been able to sit at a computer since my tummy tuck and thigh lift. Since it is after midnight it is now 18 days since my surgery. I developed a horrible infection in the incision that run through the inner bikini line and about an inch or so down. Everything was fine for my first post op visit and thn 2 days later I was back to see Dr Zabel with a horrible odor and what looked to be nasty infection. I was so close to needing surgery again to wipe out the infection but now I am out of that danger. I have a visiting nurse coming out every day to pack the open wounds. The area had to be reopened and let heal that way because of the infection that developed. I am now able to sit a little more comfortably and tonight will be the first night in my own bed. It will be at least 2 more weeks before I can return to anything normal. I still can not walk straight up or for any length of time. I hit a deep depression yesterday and my parents got my cousin to watch my kids (hubby was working) and borrowed a wheel chair and took me to Delaware Park to get out of the house and into a dofferent enviroment. It helped a lot especially since I walked in with $8 and walked out with $86! Hopefully I am on my way to healing and will once again active and able to be back to my usual life. My house is a total wreck and it is bothering me!!! But I just do not have the energy to clean and it hurts to move my legs a lot. Of course exercise has been out of the question although I make myself get up and walk a little every couple of hours. I checked the scales today and now am down to 138lbs. This time last year I weighed 269lbs. But I am still swollen and do not see the results from the tucks as of yet. I hope everyone is well and please keep Joe in your thoughts. I know he was going through a rough time yesterday but seemed better today. Peace!! Hope
Hope,
Glad that you were at least able to get out of the house. Sounds like you have been going through some hard times with the surgery. Really have missed you at the meetings and hope to see you soon. Your wounds will take time to heal, but it took time to lose that weight also. Don't worry about the house, although I know that it doesn't help the spirits when you are constantly looking at a mess. The first thing to do is to get yourself back in shape, and then everything else will fall into place.
Your bud,
Rob
Sorry to hear about the infection.
Glad that you are on the road to recovery now.
Like Rob said...Take care of yourself FIRST, the house will be there for later. I know how you feel. I have been working two jobs and things just have not been getting done around my house either. drives me NUTS!!!

Hope,
I'm sending my prayers and good thoughts for your recovery. Since it's been a tough road so far, hopefully it will get a bit better each day. We have missed your posts.
I for one want to thank you for your honesty in posting what's been happening with you. Sometimes all I read are the "how wonderful life is" posts, then when I have a bad time, or are not feeling well, or are struggling with whatever.. I think "what is wrong with me???". Thanks for letting us know about your struggles in healing with your PS, it gives all of us a more realistic outlook, and also lets us tell you that we support you and keep you in our thoughts.
Hope you feel better soon.

Hope-
I am so glad to hear from you. I was wondering how you were making out. The pain of plastic surgery is not fun, but well worth it. Keep you eyes set at the 6 month mark when you will be healthy and strong again and the swelling will be gone.
Sorry to hear about the infection-Yuk! Not fun.
As far as exercise, you are doing the right thing. Walk.Walk. and Walk. When I was laid up with the surgery, my house drove me nuts too. I ended up getting a cleaning person. I have just finally caught up on everything around the house from being out too. Just remember that a where you came from just even a week ago.
Keep looking at the bigger picture---3-6 months!!
I am here if you need anything

Hope!!!
My goodness girl. So sorry to hear that things have been a bit on the rough side. Hope things are improving now? About the house ... I would be more than glad to come over and help out if you like. It would not be the slightest problem. Not able to lift right now (hernia acting way up), but you could put me to work with the dishes, picking up, dusting and etc. Truly I would be more than glad to help out. I do SO UNDERSTAND how that stuff can get the better of you. I HATE it when I am unable to do my housework ... I like everything neat and tidy around me and when it is not ... then I get a little stir crazy too. Anyway, just say the word and I will be there doing what I can to help out!!! If there is anything else I can do (dinners, etc - you name it) please just let me know!
Hugs,
Tammy
