Liquid iron is staining my teeth
I'm so disappointed. My teeth are so discolored. I spoke to the pharmacist since dentist and dr are closed and she confirmed it is the liquid iron. I've been noticing a slight change, but now it is so obvious. I can't wait til Tues to speak to the dentist and see what to do. I'm using the whiteners that you buy in the store and I just had a cleaning 8/25 so I can't really return to the dentist for a while. Anyone else have any experience or knowledge on this matter? I'm hoping this is reversable.

not sure if it will help, but when I worked for a dentist, we used a peroxide and baking soda mix (you could make it a paste). tastes gross, but it used to work well. just not sure about iron stains. I know The Vitamin Shoppe has strawberry chewable iron..you may want to give that a try?
hope it helps!

Thanks, Val. I think I screwed your recipe up a little, lol. I used clorox and baking soda. The good news, it worked. The bad news, I think I burned my lips and gums -- it's been hours ago and they still tingle. I expect them to peel soon! I will call the dentist on Tues, but I'm a little afraid of how bird-brained he will know that I am. I just hope they don't fall out.

Boy arent we vane. I think it's kinda cool. I was always so accepting and now I'm doing everything I can to fix me up. My daughters remarked that I'm kinda looking stylish now. My answer to them is "There isn't a whole lot of stylish things out there in a size 5X." LOL
I was worried about my pearly whites too. In July my step-daughter, who works for a dentist in New York, made me the trays and I did the teeth whitening thing. She really saved me a ton of money. Course Charlie did a bunch of repairs on her home for her in the barter.
Hope your mouth feels better soon. Elissa
Hey Dianne,
Good luck going back to work, hopefully your days will go by quickly.
I also had this problem with the liquid iron. It was mentioned at the PMRI meeting last Saturday.. I told Brett that the bottle does say "eat with food, to prevent teetch discoloration". But I didnt' read that until about 6 weeks later (too late!). I've been trying everything, but so far, the toothpaste I like the best for stains is Pearl Drops... even tried the new Colgate and all the new ones with whitening. Let me know if you find anything else that works (oh.. the crest strips work well too!)
Take care dear.
