MS150 Bike to the Bay

To All my Delaware Buddies, Well here I am groveling and begging. Looking for sponsors to help me achieve one of my goals. I am going to be riding in the MS150 Bike to the Bay on October 2-3rd. 2004. This ride goes from Dover to Dewey Beach and back again. There is an overnight recovery in Dewey Beach. The miles on Saturday and Sunday will be a big challenge but an even bigger challenge will be finding 150 people to sponsor me for this ride. The sponsor money is used to find significant advances in research and treatment for multiple sclerosis. I have known a few people who have been stricken with MS in their mid-thirties. It is a devastating disease, cruel beyond belief. The money can help fund research. Why am I doing this ride? One reason is that it is well beyond my comprehension that I could actually ride 150 miles and live to tell about it. Reason two is what better way to celebrate my one-year anniversary for gastric bypass surgery than to spend two days on a bike. Reason three is that I would like to represent all of the marvelous people that I have met over the past year, and use their journeys to help me pedal. The last reason is that I really enjoy the adrenalin rush of success. Why do I need 150 people to sponsor me? My goal is that by the race date I will have lost 150-155 pounds from my high of 340 pounds since I started contemplating gastric bypass surgery back in March 2004 (surgery was October 6th, 2004). I figure one sponsor for each pound. If you would like to sign up and sponsor me I would appreciate your help and thoughtfulness. I will have pledge sheets at the WLS-NDE meeting on Sept. 7th. I will also have pledge sheets at the next two PMRI meetings. As far as I know there is no minimum amount for a sponsor (or maximum). Checks are preferred, but cash is acceptable. Don't feel guilty if you can't or don't wish to contribute, we will still remain good friends. Your bud Rob (the man in spandex)....

Hi Rob, I think that's an awsome way to celebrate your losses and your wins I will be at the support meeting at PMRI the next time it's on a Saturday ( not sure of that date ) I'd be glad to sponsor you. You could always email me your home address and I could mail you a check next week incase for some reason I don't see you at the meeting. Just tell me who to make it out to, you or the organization. I have a cousin with MS and she has struggled for years, definitely a worthy cause, good for you! Linda email [email protected]

BTW - Have I ever told you just how very proud I am of you and your accomplishments, grit and determination? Rob you are a true inspiration and I am very blessed to call you friend!!! Hugs, Tammy
