Hello there... Brand new here and have really enjoyed reading all the posts for the past week. I think for someone such as myself, it's not only motivating but also educating with a bit of reality thrown in. I envy each and everyone here. I want to be a loser too! I have been considering the lap band and was wondering if there is anyone else in Delaware who has had it, who their surgeon was and where it took place. I await results from the endocrinologist tomorrow and then the family doctor ( who says I am the perfect canidate.. BMI o****leep apnea, hypertension, arthritis and spinal stenosis) and I will decide what is best. Can anyone point in a direction? I always like to be a step ahead of the docs... Thnaks bunches! Welcome, Joyce. I have two friends at work that got the lap band done by Drs Irgau and Wynn. They are doing great! One wishes that she had gotten the r-n-y done instead, but she is not unhappy. Neither of them post but I'm sure you will get a response from someone. And of course, check the library on this site as well. There's a lot of talk on the "Main Messageboard" about lap band -- there may even be a separate forum if you would like to talk to others. But regardless, keep posting here for support and friendship. Dianne

Welcome Joyce. Dr. Irgau & Dr. Wynn do the Lap Band at Christiana. Stacey Kensey (sp) had the procedure done in May/June. She does post, but not often. I will email her address to you so you can email her directly. ((HUGS)) Elissa

Hi Joyce, I also had the RNY so I can't advise you on the lap band. All I know is that some insurance carriers will only cover the RNY and won't cover the band. That was the case with my insurance at the time of my surgery (had bc/bs). Anyway - welcome to this board and best of luck with your quest.... (My 2 yr old has watched Shrek abotu 10 times this week...everything is a quest...) ~Kathy V.

Hi Joyce!!! Welcome HUGS!!! Glad to have you posting on the DE board!!! Like those before me, I highly recommend Dr Irgau and Dr Wynn. They are excellent surgeons and are well versed in lap banding as well as the RNY bypass (my surgery). Hi There Tammy! Wow !!! I just read your profile and saw your pictures. Girl... you are AWESOME!!! It's a whole new you! Now I'm wondering if I shouldn't go RNY instead of the band... Keep up the good work! You have definately convinced me to contact Dr.s Wynn and Irgau for the procedure. Folks can't say enough good about them.
