Doc says no, we can't. Personally, at this point in my journey, I really don't see the difference between drinking with a straw or sipping from a water bottle with a pull top. Both are the same to me. Neither bothers me, but I'm almost 7mos out. So, be a good girl and follow doc's orders! lol, unlike the risk takers! Just kidding! Take care.

It is recommended that we don't drink with straws or drink carbonated beverages because of the air/gas they let into our pouches. ~ Renay

Straws are listed as one of the things you should avoid becasue it will let more air onto your pouch then drinking straight and therefore you may overload your pouch. Which may cause discomfort or the need to purge... I mindlessly used a straw abotu 3 months out & realized abotu halfway through my beverage. I talked to my dietician at PMRI and she said as long as it was not causing me any problems then it was okay. But it should definately be avoided in the early stages, you have enough to think abotu without worrying about how much air you are sucking in.
